Does the Advance Account offer any benefits to the normal account?

All the info is here, unsurprisingly:

I don’t really see much difference

Honestly at the time I felt ready to try another bank for a bit, and I was worried about what this might’ve meant for my premier account as I did get value from it. I’ve since realised it wouldn’t have actually mattered if they had downgraded me, unlikely as that would’ve been.

On a side note, while the account was opened last week and emails tell me my cards are on the way I can’t access the account as the only way to get account details is to wait for a telephone banking number to be received in the post.

Classic.

You going to move back to HSBC from your current bank account or have them as a side account?

What credit limit did you get?

My Premier Credit card limit is ridiculous, something like £4K  I’ll be honest, I barely use the card, but still, when I first opened a NatWest credit card account, they gave me 8k, and it wasn’t Premier or anything like that.

Am I right in assuming they offered you the credit card as part of your current account application, so just 1 credit check rather than 2?

Probably, I only tend to run with one bank and NatWest as a backup

So I don’t know. It didn’t actually tell me in the application process which is odd as FD do. Nor does it in the agreement.

Despite the many emails telling me my account is open, card is on the way, etc, until I get my telephone banking number it’s a walled garden to me.

When you get your card you can register for online banking, or at least the app.

I had the same as already had a profile but I created a new and it was fine.

You gonna go for the Advance Card then or in the future?

Will you be moving your investments over? I am sure you previously said you were using the investments at Lloyds?

Would you go for one of the ready made funds?

Yes, that’s true. But I’ve not had any mail for five days which is the issue. I can’t believe in 2025 you still have to be verified by a letter.

I think I will be doing. The fees are reasonably comparable, and I’ve found performance tends to be better over time.

That said I can’t really say the Lloyds product has been bad, it’s fairly easy to set and forget.

I’m considering the hsbc ready made funds, I use trading 212 currently and I want something to set and forget. I tinker with trading 212

Each to their own and I’m sure lower fees exist, but for both Lloyds and HSBC I’ve found it easy to just set a standing amount and let the robot do the rest.

At least with HSBC the fees are reasonably transparent

I use the HSBC ones and they are easy to use. I don’t want to think about it too much, so I can set it up, leave it, and have an automatic amount leave every month. Also really straightforward to add a bit more whenever you want as well

It’s more whether to use the ready made funds, as mentioned, they are quite reasonable cost wise and transparent.

I think HSBC do let use choose your own funds and ETFs but I think it’s more expensive than their ready made funds.

If you use Global Investment Centre it’s 0.25% platform fee whether you use ready-made or pick your own funds.

If you use InvestDirect you can pick your own ETFs and shares and the platform fee is £10.50 per quarter.

That’s true, but as with Lloyds they handle the handling fee by the broker so it’s typically more like 0.44%
