How can I share max breakdown benefit with wife?

As part of Max I get breakdown cover for myself, wife and family members. As the Max holder I get a link to breakdown cover and installing myRAC I can see the coverage.

But I can’t find a way to provide my wife with any information she would need to log a call with the RAC should she breakdown. She installed the myRAC app but it clearly needs a different policy number than the bespoke Monzo policy to register.

Anyone else figured out how to share the coverage to your spouse in a way they can use it easily?

You have to log the call on their behalf, I belive.

I’ve just registered for a MyRAC account via the MyRAC app. During set-up, it only asked for how my existing policy was provided (RAC / Car Dealer / Bank), so Bank of course, and my name & postcode. It then matched to the policy provided via Monzo.

I suspect the same thing would happen with MrsW if we installed the MyRAC app on her phone - BUT - I’ve already named all the family peeps involved with Travel, Breakdown & Mobile cover in the Monzo app - so this may be an important step [EDIT:] to ensure that during setup of the MyRAC app, the RAC database connects the name(s)/postcode to the existing policy provided by Monzo.

What I can’t test is ‘adding’ the Monzo policy to an existing MyRAC account…

Thanks David, you were right.

The mistake I made was talking to my wife across the table instead of looking at her phone. I said “hey can you install the myRAC app and let me know what it says”, “registration?” she says, “yep” i respond, “i am covered under someone else’s RAC policy?”, she asks… “yep, sound about right”. To which then it doesn’t understand the policy number and i’m confused and log this chat on the community.

Now looking at her phone with my own eyes, I can see it’s the next option “Yes, I get cover with my car, bank, insurance or business”, which she failed to mention, sigh. Selecting this works, although she was offered the option of either her car or Monzo after it found her. We chose Monzo and she was able to add both our cars to her app.

So in case anyone else has this same question, thank you David.

That confirms what happens in the situation I couldn’t test: adding the Monzo policy to an existing MyRAC account. It looks like it simply gives you the chance to choose between an existing RAC registered car/policy OR the policy provided via Monzo. :+1:
