I decided to use The Feed as my archive and that fits my workflow (Imbox almost-zero, searchable Feed, receipts/important stuff in Paper Trail and little bits of valuable info in clips)
I’m finding it very, very efficient and I’m spending very little time in my emails (even though I love the interface); Hey is at this point.
That’s why I prefer tutanota as it’s free with the optional £12 payment for lifetime compared to £99/year and has everything the same, even up to 5 custom email domains plus custom support are amazing! They once had a offer for 50% off for stundents which they removed but kept it in the T&C by accident and I questioned it and they gave me a £30 voucher
I don’t think I’ve ever come across a worse ‘short’ video introduction.
Not short (over 13 minutes)
Not accessible (no captions, no on-screen text information)
Visually dull and banal
Scrolling through the rest of the page, I like the idea of the search functions they offer, but couldn’t see much else that appealled to me. The inbox page looked busy, and I couldn’t see what they really offer to set themselves apart from Google.
They really need to replace that 13+ minute intro video that relies on the chap talking over it with a 2min (max) video that quickly takes you through the main functions and uses with no voiceover. Hook people in with something like that first before offering longer videos. And for gods sake, caption the damn things.
Where Hey got their marketing right (and Onmail have missed the target) is that they made it very clear what they were offering and how it was different, with multiple pages you could look at that would summarise each feature quickly and concisely.
Also a cleaner layout for Hey.
tl;dr, Onmail aren’t selling themselves well at all and I can’t see what they have to offer that could excite me.
I agree, although they are cheaper than Hey and are going to offer a free option soon. Paid plans include free custom domains too which puts them in the same sort of price bracket as the likes of Fastmail
I won’t be renewing Hey past the first year, the novelty wore off pretty quickly for me, If i could cancel now and get the rest of the year back I would.
I think i’ll be going to back to Newton Mail, I use to swear by Newton years ago, then it died, was revived, and died again… However, Last year it was revived again and they guys behind the revival have been working their socks off and are knocking it out of the park feature wise. I’m finally going to give it my trust again, I want to handle all my email accounts in one app, for a reasonable fee, Hey can’t and probably will never do that, and Newton has added a few of their features
I find Hey really refreshing. It sort of reminded me of when I first joined Monzo and thought “yeah… this is how banking should be”.
I do wish there were a monthly option, and a few bits and bobs bug me but so far I find it just a really pleasant way to manage emails.
I also signed up for the Daybridge beta as I’m keen to get the same from a calendar but I’m not sure how long it goes from “Join our beta programme” sign up to actually getting a space…
I can’t be bothered to argue for it, and i guess at least I get to keep the email address forever should they improve the value for money side of things as well it’s featureset
I haven’t! I actually only really have started to look for a different calendar app recently; I’ve always used the Apple calendar but I’ve started to find it doesn’t always suit my shift patterns, that often have me working 7pm-7am shifts and I don’t like the way it visualises it.
I haven’t looked hard just yet, but I like the idea of a holistic overview of my day; appointments, bills due, reminders, work shifts etc all in one place.
