Barclays would still allow direct debits while your account was under review, card payments and bank transfer/standing orders would not go ahead.

This isn’t a freeze to ask where money came from, he tried to pay off a Ā£5K loan and his account was frozen to ā€œprotect his moneyā€

His card will also be frozen, if he has a business account that gets frozen too - from personal experience

Then he’ll have a call and be asked some trivial questions before they let the payment go through. The process is fine, but the problem lays that he has to wait days for the call…

I’m not sure monzo do call, unless that’s changed? Most banks generally do though.

A specialist calls you, in my case they asked for pictures of calls and texts with my sister because she owned the Amazon prime account I was trying to purchase on

I guess that’s one way of speeding up the process, the important things like this should ideally have a fast track method.

I really don’t have a problem with the security check, though asks for texts felt a little invasive… it’s just the 3 day wait being locked out of my money

Only bad experience with Monzo in years, they do so much else so well it’s just a bit of a shame

My very thought.

It’s cuz the level of fraud, people receiving spoof fraud calls pretending to be the bank, and then the fraudster getting cards linked to their own Apple Pay then going wild in Apple stores spending thousands.

Seen so much at Barclays.

I always thought direct debits still went ahead, but card payments and transfers do not.

Could be confused with Barclays, as I know for sure theirs did still go ahead.

Yes, I’ve all but stopped using Monzo for anything for similar reasons. At least I can move large amounts of money around with HSBC without them doing anything other than asking me a few ā€œAre you sure?ā€ type questions in the app.

I can’t remember with monzo.

But Barclays only ever revoked access and transfers, direct debits still worked.

Don’t think account security can be even considered behind a paywall. The regulator would frown on this for sure.

Virtual cards aren’t really account security, they’re a preference.

Account security as a whole is non negotiable.
