General broadband discussion

Increase from Sky broadband dropped, they couldn’t do anything about the price increase (checked alt plans and discounts), but they did say I could leave anytime so will just wait for cityfibre to roll out and hopefully get some gig speeds for <£28pm

The increase dropped? You young people with your crazy talk…

As in, then increase dropped to my mailbox.

I’m also 37 in less than 2 weeks, not so young :joy:

That is still very young I’ve got rock band t-shirts older than that

I was wondering why Virgin massively cut prices from mid January in my area.
It looks like OpenReach are finishing FTTP works in my area in the next 3 months.
Sadly I am locked in on a more expensive plan that I couldn’t leave.

When they had monopoly the lowest I saw for 1gig was £33.
I am even now seeing other providers quoted with those speeds. Before I left EE in 2023 I had signed up to get notified once they get up to speed and they did.

I have now added an O2 Volt after Three agreeing to let me go fee free due to poor reception. I will keep paying £27.99 for 1Gbps no April increase this year, and unlimited O2 sim for £12.

We’ve had FTTP for a few years now and the Virgin deals have also improved massively over that time.

No idea how long you have left, but various providers do have offers to pay for some level of cancellation fee.

I will play those games once this monopoly is dealt with.

Just signed up for Toob. 900Mb up and down for £18 via Topcashback.

Sky somehow let you exit early when they do a price increase so took advantage.

May need to buy a new Eero as my 6s can only handle 500Mb on WiFi.

Do you need more than that?
