The Flex offer changing to remove pay-in-3 for purchases under £100 is going to be sorely, possibly even resentfully, missed by users who were eligible. I include myself in the disappointed group. However, I would suggest the following:
Continue to offer pay-in-3 for all purchases to eligible users who are subscribed to Monzo Max.
This would appear as a fairly easy win for Monzo, appeasing the most loyal customers with perhaps the most loved feature of the Monzo Flex credit card. By capturing this within the cost of the subscription, it may make this more sustainable for Monzo to continue its offering.
I sincerely hope this, or a similar alternative (e.g. perhaps extending the benefit to eligible Perks / Extra subscribers), will prevail.
How would they lose money if it is a benefit supplied as part of a subscription offering? Are you not aware that Monzo subscribers get access to higher interest rates than non-subscribers already?
I’m not sure I see the constructive side of writing off something as “not happening” within a forum designed to promote diverse ideas for things to happen. Do Monzo happen to consult you before each of their releases?
I didn’t mention anything about raising prices, and I never said anything about using savings, you did. I said, Monzo Max could be used as a vehicle for Monzo Flex benefits. There are a number of possible ways to implement this, hence I suggested it. If you don’t think extra interest on savings are valuable, what reason is there not to consider cutting the additional interest benefit on savings pots to instead enable 0% Flex purchases, as just one possible pathway. It helps to be open-minded about possibilities.
Don’t expect much support from the “Monzo-can-do-no-wrong” crowd on here.
The recent change is clearly unpopular and I think your idea has value (seems similar to the fact we get better savings rates by subscribing)
I guess the counter point would be if that subscriber perks have too many benefits that hinge on using other Monzo products, it starts to look less like a premium offer and more like a way of locking you into the ecosystem
Monzo don’t want anyone stretching anything over 3 months. Certainly not your meal deal. Too many people were doing that and it costs them.
If they wanted to offer 0% over three months for purchases under £100, to whatever cohort of people, they could. They haven’t because it’s expensive and it’s easier to take it away for everyone.
Max, Aura, early adaptors blah blah blah. Nobody gets it.
You only need to look at the feedback suggestions and the usual responses to most things. Funnily enough, these same people don’t have much to offer themselves other than negativity and whinging. Just ignore it and place the + vote on the original idea and move on is the best bet.
