Are we back? *holds breath*

It is open, go go go.

I’ve seen a few threads automatically closed this way. Is there any way for an admin or super admin to turn it off?

Moderation is variable here.

Negative threads are very quickly jumped on by fans - even moderators sometimes - with comments like, “here we go again,” “let’s see how long this stays open,” etc which become self fulfilling. Mods, especially, should know better. If you have nothing constructive to say, don’t say it.

We’ve already had @Revels openly saying that his posts are often dripping with sarcasm. I know that if I took that approach with my criticism of monzo, that my posts would be flagged/removed.

This stuff is so frustrating to see all the time. Surely there are some tweaks that can be made to the forum settings to make this less frequent?

I’m a recent victim of this. I’ve been a forum member for quite a while and I think I’ve made some very honest but fair comments on threads which get flagged very quickly just because someone doesn’t like them.

If Monzo is your bank and something more to you and you feel personally insulted or you think what someone says is wrong you could just reply with your opinion instead of flagging things as incorrect.

That being said I am tempted to flag this thread for good measure…

It’s clear that flagging is used as a mechanism to suppress many critical posts that Monzo fanatics do not want to see. Even when such criticism is reasoned.

Or you could not try and antagonise about a bank you don’t like on a daily basis.

I’m curious as to what you get out of it?

It would be nice if this thread could actually create some form of consensus as to how we’d all like to see the community managed going forward.

@Demmedelusive made a very valid point when he kicked this all off that perhaps a new approach to flag management is required.

I agree with him and perhaps if we could come up with a solution like the grownups most of us are  then perhaps we can make this a friendlier place

As if by magic, another one appears.

Nice edit btw

I decided my last point contradicted my previous post . I actually want to see this become a friendlier place so figured I’d start with my own posts

Not responsible for your flag though, that’ll be someone else that has an issue with your posts

I used to love using Monzo and I find the forum useful. I’d been a Monzo user for a long time - I was user 2000 and something.

Just because I don’t like their recent developments doesn’t mean I dislike the bank as a whole.

I didn’t realise the forum is only for Monzo devotees as you suggest.

Obviously Monzo has transformed quite a lot since the beginning. It used to be more transparent and user focused, customer service was excellent and the entire proposition was just miles better than anyone else but all of that slowly changed and I don’t think it’s for the better.

With the way people flag on here is it any wonder why descriptions such as “snowflakes” and “woke” are popular.

It worries me that society’s (granted probably only a small minority who spend most of their time trolling on twitter) response to seeing something they don’t like is to shut the discussion down.

I see this sort of behaviour online all the time particularly twitter. It only takes a few radicals to completely skew the reality of what the majority think.

You’re probably going to get flagged for that post because of the way you’ve used the words “snowflakes”, “woke” and “radicals”. :grimacing:

This forum has been more or less wall to wall negativity & criticism of Monzo for the past few months.

It’s getting a little boring, honestly.

Maybe I’m just going into the wrong threads, but I think I’ve maybe only flagged 5 posts max in the time I’ve been on the forum?

I figure the current… Overzealous-ness… of the lock-out system is a direct design choice by the Powers that Be who don’t want to engage with the forum so much. While the Coral Crew can do some things, I guess it’s easier to moderate through automation than people power.

Maybe that’s why it’s so sensitive - easier to shut a thread until Monzo can come and clean up at their own leisure.

Sounds like a way to hide opinions you simply don’t you agree with… and that’s exactly how it’s being used and abused.
