Anyone else thinking First Direct is having a bit of an identity crisis? They don’t seem to have much direction with their brand anymore. https://www2.firstdirect.com/

Their new logo and card design is also terrible

The first thing I mentally see when I clock that new FD fingerprint logo is this:

Not good really.

Nope

Dont see that lol.

I see the mazes you used to find in kids puzzle books where you have to go from edge to centre, or vice versa

This has been floating around on their website and in leaflets for a while.

It seems to be a render of the card that doesn’t match the card design. Whether that’s just lack of attention to detail, or a sign of a new design incoming, it’s impossible to tell.

It’s a god–awful logo. First Direct losing confidence in its (very strong) brand identity just at the time it needs to leverage it and pitch its stability to a new customer base with actual new products.

A shame to watch it going down the pan, in slow motion.

It reminds me of the view when my cat walks away….

Proper laughing out loud at this image. Watch out for the new First Direct adverts with someone playing the cello.

Tone successfully lowered :sunglasses:

I don’t know why, and it’s irritating me so I wish I wasn’t, but this is making me think of Nationwide’s awful and sanctimonious poetry adverts.

The cello playing is a cat reference, not an actual FD advert…

Oh sorry; what does it say about First Direct that I thought you were serious?!

But I agree with you about the interminable Nationwide campaign.

The maze on Westworld?

Curious if anyone else has experienced this before.

I transferred £1,000 to First Direct from my Monzo to take advantage of the current switch offer, and I’ve since transferred it back on First Direct but the money still hasn’t shown up in Monzo. Is this normal for the first transaction to a new payee on First Direct. I’m guessing they are doing security checks for fraud and stuff but it’s just frustrating as I am used to instant transfers at multiple other banks.

How long has it been?

Most Faster Payment transfers are instant; they can take up to two hours, and the system allows up to two days for such a transfer to remain successful.

If this is a new FD account, and you’ve only transferred in £1000, and then pretty sharpish transferred it back out again, I imagine it’s being looked at for potential money laundering, but neither FD nor Monzo would ever confirm this, because they’re not allowed to comment on specific cases.

Turns out it was flagged on the system. Got a text to phone them up to confirm it was me.

All good now!

Has there been any news on this?

No, but given that the rollout is complete at HSBC and M&S Bank, First Direct are next in line!

It is also mentioned in the app as a coming soon feature, so shouldn’t be too far away (famous last words).

:soon: in Monzo time means next month/next year/maybe never. Let’s hope FD are different.

Do you know if the notifications work like Monzo’s ones: ie even for transactions in shops? And does that mean they’ll show pending transactions in app?
