Thanks for sharing, looks great!
Hey guys!
I know a few guys were interesting in trying this out but struggled with some of the instructions.
I’ve made some changes so that now you only need to download and input your Monzo OAuth credentials. No more git clones (unless you want to) or messing with .env files.
Hopefully that helps
MacOS users can download the latest .dmg from here: https://github.com/johneas10/bankBar/releases

If you have any issues or suggestions please get in touch!
I’ll be sure to try this out soon
Thanks in advance
Electron
Meh.
You’ve already made your feelings known about electron further up. Why criticise again using the same arguement? Ignore the thread and move on.
Instead of jumping onto the standard ‘electron is crap’ argument, why not open your eyes and try it out for yourself? I wrote part of this natively to begin with. Ran using about 30-40mb of RAM. This electron version was at about 40-50mb last time I checked.
Yes I’ve used a few electron apps that have used more resources than they should, but for small little projects it’s great!
I look forward to seeing your native submission
Edit:
@anon23935806 just loaded it up on my machine at work. 52.2mb of memory. Laptop didn’t melt.
Didn’t realize I already posted on this thread earlier - it just popped in my latest thread list and I imagined it was a new app.
why not open your eyes and try it out for yourself?
I have no use for it, but nevertheless I’m pretty tired of seeing every single app running its own copy of a browser & Javascript virtual machine, especially for the simple task of putting an icon in the system bar.
It’s too easy to criticise and hard to praise.
@johne has done this in his spare time, and made it available for free to the community. I think that should be applauded.
@anon23935806 just ignore then thread and move on then. You’ve made it clear you’re not interested.
@tomsr thanks! Mostly just a personal project to get my head around a few technologies. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out and thought some others might find it useful too.
I get to the login page to login to OAuth but when I put in my email and press submit it doesn’t work… the submit button doesn’t work… any idea? Or is this Monzo?
Haha no worries. Hope it works out for ya!
Love the idea of this! So many times I have been on my laptop and wanted to spend some time sorting through my finances. Having an online portal will make this much easier
I edited it again as it wont even let me in the developer portal so I think its Monzo…
Yeah I’m afraid I can’t help you if the developers portal is down ️
How far did you get the first time?
