I’ve just got fed up with seeing a set of icons of people I’ve no intention of ever sending money to through monzo, so I’ve turned off monzo’s access to my contacts.
Now I get half of the Payments screen filled with a silly graphic and a ‘find friends on monzo’. I’ve turned it off, deliberately, it shouldn’t then be telling me I can turn it on.
Good call. Contacts in my phone book does not equal ‘friends’, let alone friends I may send money to!
I did try splitting my contacts into separate lists and just having friends in the main list, but monzo doesn’t obey the active accounts list in the contacts app it just slurps all the contacts it can find.
Just be aware that Monzo.me won’t work with that turned off.
