By that very statement ‘of having seen it a handful of times’ you are fine with the girl ‘demanding’ money, and using the public forum of Monzo twitter feed to be paid into their Monzo account and taking advantage of these small handful of customers until the customer fesses up and admits to Monzo that they are having problems with it ? hmmmm - I appreciate by the few replies most don’t see this as a problem … maybe Im wrong
That’s not what they said at all
I’m sure I just said something about not marking people guilty by association.
from beths - " Being pretty close to the vulnerable customer team I have seen this, less than a handful of times, and we’ve done our best to help those individuals."
Please don’t put words in my mouth @iansilversides.
It’s a problem if it jeopardises an individual somehow, sure, and our customers have reached out when that’s happened.
Outside of that, it’s not a banks place to tell its customers how to use their money, as long as what they’re doing is completely legal.
And what I meant, we’ve had a couple of instances where customers felt they were scammed / treated unfairly by these people so we explored what we could do as a bank to assist them.
I wasn’t trying to put words in your mouth I was merely saying what you said about ‘you’ve seen it a handful of times’ , anyway
I will leave it there anyway , it seems like most dont see it as a problem for the Monzo brand
Someone give me money, I am hungry and want pizza.

They’d enjoy being told no
lol …OK …OK … so there is no problem with this , you have all convinced me , Im being too judgemental , a girls got to live
I’m more worried they are not using a business account and avoiding fees or possibly tax!
The difficulty with those types of relationships is whether they’re abusive or not
(source:https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/panjbz/how-to-tell-if-your-bdsm-relationship-is-abusive).
EDIT GOES without saying:Above link NFSW!
And whether financial domination is consensual or not is another matter entirely.
How a bank can enter that sphere I don’t know, as I would argue that its a personal choice.
The major question would be what is the difference between financial domination and financial coercion.
I may be wrong, but Monzo block gambling payments, including the Lottery, don’t they? Someone has made a judgement there about what money should be spent on, right?
they allow you to block these but I would guess these are identifiable companies…a cam girl is so much harder to block
Merchants have a code that means blocking those transactions is possible
the girls give their Monzo account numbers , which is attached to a phone number and email , the email can be replaced easily the phone number not so cheaply, however as Monzo staff have said they dont have a problem with this usage case …so no problem …
I think PayPal block these types of goings
I don’t get it, what’s your point?
I was talking about a block that people could choose to enable. There’s no way monzo could police all the accounts to decide which ones to block (if users wanted to)
" I don’t get it, what’s your point?"
following on from my - ‘so no problem’ …my point is , maybe I wasn’t clear …I think it damages the Monzo brand having the girls advertising their services on the Monzo twitter feed, attached to a Monzo bank account , I think it potentially affects vulnerable customers , I think personally the service is morally questionable - but as has been said most dont see it as a problem …so fair enough - its a forum to discuss opinions
