I’ve mentioned it a few times on twitter… But the most annoying thing about having a joint account card and a current account card is having two identical cards, ideally there should be some distinguishing feature (preferably the colour so it’s easy to spot in your wallet).
It’s a massive bug bear for my current current account and I’d probably switch everything over if we had this option

Dutch bank bunq manage it. You have two PIN and can link them to any two of your accounts with them, and change what account they are linked to in their app.

Presumably you need to assign in-app which account is used for contactless though?

I think this is a problem with Starling’s business cards too (unless they have now fixed it)? It will be interesting to see if they do distinguish between the cards, while keeping as much of the hot coral as possible of course!
Yes. Whichever you make PIN 1 will be contactless, PIN 2 is chip and PIN and chip and dip only and not contactless.

I can see how having two similar cards could be confusing! I suppose you’d also have to have a virtual card number in the app for any re occurring card payments like Netflix that you may put on that joint account.
It will be interesting to see how it’s implemented either way. Love following the journey of Monzo releasing features.
Our initial thoughts on this are to issue a second card, with something to visually distinguish it from your personal account card.
In my testing I’ve been using a non-investor card to make it obvious, but the majority of my transactions have been apple pay anyway.

When joint accounts are live will there be a mechanism to allow us to move Direct Debits over from our Sole account to the joint?
This would be pretty useful since I currently have all the shared bills coming out of my account since moving everything over to Monzo.

I do hope it is going to be possible to have more than one joint account. The workflow shared by @makingmonzo on Twitter looks more like a toggle…
I wouldn’t have thought you’d be able to. Join accounts are mostly for sharing your money and bills with your partner.
Shared pots may cover off what you’re looking for? There was a sneak peek about those a few weeks ago.
Don’t see why not. Hopefully the cards would have some visual que as to which one is which.

I have two joint accounts that I would like to move to Monzo and I would prefer to keep separate. One primarily for bills and household expenses and household savings and another for food/eating out. I get the idea of using pots but I would prefer to keep the joint accounts separate. It’s how we have managed our finances for many years. I don’t want to be limited to one joint account which would be a retrograde step…
