Yes, that would also be a cool feature

I think there is a place for it, but as part of the summary tab.
Pretty much what I would enjoy press on the transaction where it says rounded up etc so it also has balance before transaction there
I think it used to be in the notification you got when you bought something, and not in the feed. Obviously it was removed form the notification because it was easy for people to see over your shoulder your current balance.
Ahh ok, then that’s something totally different to what @Sarah3 said and I can understand why that would be done.
Glad the confusion was cleared up, thanks ![]()
Around three years ago, I was posting in the Starling community (and probably here as well) about how RBS implements running balances. I think they do it well.
When you launch their app and view transactions, it displays the credit and debit lines with a running balance alongside which slides out of the way after a couple of moments.
Then you’ll just see the credit and debit transactions.
At any point, to reveal the running balance, swipe in from the right hand side of the screen. This reveals the running balance once more.
It’s really useful (I find) to see what the balance of an account is at any given point.
I understand there are some people that don’t find this functionality useful but I do and so do many others. We might not be as vocal about it but I do see some people putting in a huge amount of effort challenging this suggestion.
The RBS app has had this for as long as I can remember. RBS was the first, or amongst the first, with telephone banking (1993/4-ish?) and internet banking.
Quite apart from their poor media image, RBS has always provided fairly decent telephone banking and a very decent app.
It does a lot of things better than the so-called Challenger banks and that’s why I’ve previously recommended the challengers go and have a look at the RBS app.
It’s not at all bad for a legacy bank. Easy to use and understand.
Yes, I’ve an account with NatWest and it’s obviously a shared platform as the app looks the same. It’s pretty polished and I like the balance by swipe feature.
I’ve also a nationwide account and that displays the balance under the spent amount. It does make you wonder though what smoke and mirrors hold up their systems though. The transfers are instant for savings accounts but it takes up to 5 working days for the entry to show in the statement.
Thankfully Monzo is pretty much instant for most things.
When I first started using monzo I loved that I could see the amount decrease over time depending on how I was spending over time. Don’t remember nor do I understand why they removed it. Anyone else miss this graph? Or am I alone in thinking this? Can’t see it in the latest version of the app.
It seemed to be the community’s number one bête noire, but good look fielding fir votes
I have as it is still a good idea if suitably presented/obscured/hidden
Now that the balance graph has been removed from the top of the app, which for me was a ridiculous thing to do but that’s just my personal opinion, how do I see what my balance was at any given date?
There doesn’t seem to be any obvious way to view this.
My salary gets paid the last working day of the month. On the 1st of the month payments go out of my account. I also transfer any balance left over from the previous month to a savings account. Because I’m responsible like that and budget properly.
However now, there’s no way of me actually seeing on the 1st of the month what my balance was the day before.
You can see it on your statement
That seems like a backwards step to have to then go to a different part of an app, download a statement. Open the statement.
The idea of an app is surely to have things more streamlined and user friendly. The new layout tells you each day how much you’ve spent on that day. As an idea or suggestion surely it can’t be that much extra work to add the account balance on that day as well?
I agree that removing/moving the graphic display is a severe retrograde move. It was the main reason that I thought that Monzo was a different sort of bank. The way I could scroll back through my account without having to download any further files was great.
So I would like to know if you are planning to bring the graphic display back or are you going to become the same as the standard mainstream banks and just take my money and not listen.
Thanks
I didn’t particularly care for the graph but I would find it useful to be able to see balance on a particular day without resorting to the pdf statements.
It seems to me the majority view, at least from the Monzo community, was that the pulse graph was undesirable. So by removing it they have listened.
How many topics must we have about this?
4 or 5 fewer than yesterday. I’ve been merging…
Your work is appreciated, Mike!

Hi Alexs. No, the pulse (now moved further swipes away) does not provide that.
For mw the graph was a very useful feature as I could see how much money I had at any given date - even compare say today’s date with what I had a month or two ago.
The app seems to me now more focused on the bank’s products than on the user/client.
