Debit or Credit Card?

I’d say that as good as the Avios can be, it’s the companion voucher where the real value of the BA Amex lies.
A lot depends on how much you can actually put through your Amex.
For example, we have been using Amex an awful lot more this year as we discover more and more places that accept it, I now only have to spend about £4000 on it between now and next April to qualify for a companion voucher.
Now if I can pay for 1 flight with Avios, and use the companion voucher, that works out to a very cheap flight

Even if you don’t see value in Avios for travel you can covert Avios to pseudo-cash in the form of Nectar points.

If you earn 1 Avios per £ and then convert to Nectar you’re essentially getting 0.8 percent cashback.

Converting Amex membership rewards to Avios to Nectar is another way of achieving the same “cashback” rate.

You can, but you get more Nectar if you first convert to Avios.

Amex rewards to Avios ratio is 1:1
Amex rewards to Nectar is 1:1
Avios to Nectar is 1:1.6

Are you seriously spending £5000pm through a personal Amex card? :grimacing:

My income is nowhere near that :rofl:

My wife uses it too with a supplementary card.

Also it’s Amex Nectar and it’s also double points via insurance so I get a lump added on top.

Also Sainsbury’s energy

It shows like this as entries

It gives a nice amount each month for not doing anything different.

My credit report records a nought even when I use my Amex every month and pay it off in full by direct debit :person_shrugging:t2:

It then penalises me for not using enough credit!

I have no idea. This credit agency claims the number “updates” weekly. It doesn’t really matter, as they make up the number anyway.
