Something the article mentions that I think is very important - there is no right to a bank account in Britain.

That needs to change. Either basic bank accounts become statutory rights or we adopt the French system where after a rejection of X amount of banks, you’re able to ask the Bank of England to appoint you a bank that has to accept you as a basic client.

There is. Everyone has the right to a basic bank account should you be unable anywhere else.

With the exception of criminal activity occurring effectively under the Payment Accounts Regulations 2015.
