Create a Budget for Multiple Categories

I’d like to have a social budget, which includes eating out, travel and entertainment. That way I can track the combined amount of these categories.

You can do this if you have Monzo Plus

Create the social category and mark the transactions to that budget

Thanks, but I’d like to be able to categorise them as their actual expense, but have it collated as one budget. I’m doing a Social category at the moment, but it doesn’t give me a true historic analysis of the type of things I spend my money on.

Did you get anywhere with this? It seems my idea of multiple categories is very different to Monzo’s. I want to be able to see the spending inside a broad category.

Eg Car as a category, but also:

  • fuel
  • MOT
  • tax
  • servicing
  • new brakes
  • new tyres
  • car wash

Same applies elsewhere, like Takeaway > type of food ordered.
Date night > was it dinner, a movie, and event? Etc

I see people say this is what tags are for but tags have vastly reduced functionality, as they can’t be applied to non-Monzo accounts and they don’t show in the summary or Trends graph. Having to manually search and manually tally up the totals defeats the purpose
