Varies here. Some items are delayed by several days, some seem to be on time. Something from a mile down the road sent RoyalMail 24 took 5 days last week, a letter today arrived overnight. Haven’t seen our normal postie in over a week.
This isn’t the whole story, but it boils down to three things:
-
They are two weeks ahead of us. You should prepare yourself to see similar numbers here in two weeks time.
-
They have had so many cases so quickly that they don’t have enough doctors, hospital beds or equipment to save as many people as they could otherwise.
-
Italian culture means more older people are more socially active, meaning more vulnerable people had more contact with potential virus carriers.
Can’t see them lifting it that quick, we’d get a 2nd peak mid June
Then they should go to the Himalayas
Would that be classed as “essential” travel?
Put a pack of Andex there and yes
Thing 2 isn’t quite relevant. Our NHS actually had a lower capacity than Italy’s, so in two week’s time it could be worse off. We’ll only be able to tell if ours managed to cope better afterwards.
Other two points are bang on, though.
I got an emergency supplies drop delivered today from the government along with a letter about been on the high risk register, the foods a weeks supply, it’s a good thing for them to do but if someone seriously had no other means of getting shopping into the house and nothing in already then they’d be going hungry around day 4, better than nothing at least just strange that anyone making the packs up would think that’s going to last 7 days
6 apples
6 pears
Family size box weetos so cereal all round
Loaf bread
Fig Biscuits
2 cartoons long life milk
Packet spaghetti
1 jar pasta sauce
1 bag potatoes
Tea, coffee, sugar
Toilet roll
Shower gel
Toothpaste
2 tins tomatoes
2 tins beans
Fingers crossed, the NHS copes better than in Italy, although I agree it’s not a given at all. But I think I meant that Italy’s figures don’t reflect a meaningful mortality rate, i.e. comparing deaths to infections.
Days 5-7 you start eating the toothpaste?
We have had a bit more warning and therefore more time to increase capacity in the NHS, like freeing up beds and getting the nightingale set up, before we get to the peak. Hopefully capacity has been increased enough and hopefully we’ll have an appropriate amount of equipment to go along with it
The shower gel is mint and tea leaf, the ball tingling version so if all else fails I’ll be minty fresh
How are you guys managing without barbers? Luckily I suit having short or long hair so been doing a 2 all over with some remington quick cuts
Who knew that cutting your own hair would ever become a necessary skill in the UK? Lucky I’ve been practising for years
Buying a Skull Shaver was the best investment I ever made. I found it tricky and kept missing bits with a standard clipper.
Now I just rub my head with my hand and it’s done (pic isn’t me)
I use standard clippers if I have left it for a week or longer, then use generally a Gillette 5 Blade razor
These look interesting. Hmm…
I’ll just let it grow out. If I’m not seeing people I don’t need to do much upkeep on it anyway (and luckily I had a (very) short back and sides done a couple of weeks before lockdown, so there’s plenty of time before it grows too much).
Grade 1 mine every 7 days. Plenty of practice over the years
