COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

Where’s this from?

Edit: Found it on BBC News

It doesn’t matter, he never actually answers them anyway.

8pm is usually more serious but nothing has leaked that I’ve seen.

Waffle waffle ‘we can beat this together’, bar charts, including one with an unintelligible scale, waffle waffle ‘save Christmas’, waffle waffle random hand gestures, waffle waffle more talk about unity, channels inner Churchill, some booster talk and finished with plenty of time to make his dinner engagement

“Keep Boris in power” alert level raised from 3 to 4…

I think this is a bit harsh.
Ivan1954 hasn’t said anything particularly wrong, it’s not like this government hasn’t used diversionary tactics before.

No, and I said the same earlier, but it’s this bit…

He knows exactly what he’s doing and does it time and time again.

You were the one who accused me of being one of the tin foil hat wearing brigade remember…

And it was meant in jest. :upside_down_face:

After the crap we been through this last 2 years, a little light-heartedness is needed, I’m sure even you would agree with that.

Light heartedness from someone with your views isn’t what you think it is.

Anyway… booster for anyone over over 18, can book from Weds.

Based on people I know trying to get jabs who are in their fifties, I don’t hold out much hope of me getting one anytime soon.

All eggs in one basket, a basket made out of chocolate, in front of a fire, on the hottest day of the year.

Everyone in two weeks? I just don’t see it esp. with christmas in the middle.

Outside the cities the way you get vaccinated is your GP and they’re already vaccinating everyone they can such that running out of vaccines is a thing. You can’t suddenly add demand for a few million more.

Would I be right in thinking you are in one of the metroplis’s?
Around here, it’s been very easy to book for a few weeks.

If a booster defeats omicron, and every eligible person will be boostered within 17 days, why do they need to bring in the new restrictions?

Edit: 19 days, my bad

I’m clinically vulnerable and only finally getting my booster next week (Coz under 40). I welcome everyone getting their boosters but I agree it will take local GPs some time.

It’s an ambitious target, to be sure. Especially considering I know many people in my position (40+) who booked a booster after it was announced they’d be allowed to and are having awful trouble cancelling their booking to rebook sooner. At least one person I know went to a walk-in booster clinic after the six-month gap was lowered, but was turned away by the clinic because they hadn’t been given updated guidelines yet (despite the website for the public having been updated!). Classic left-hand/right-hand government communication nonsense, but very much not what you want when dealing with Covid.

I hope I can figure out a way to get my own booster in the next week instead of having to wait 'til January, but I’m not sure at the moment how I’m going to do it. Fully expect trying to rebook through the website may be a cluster**** with everyone else trying to do the same thing. Will probably need to research walk-ins and queue for hours.

The system was able to book at least over 30s from last night as I booked mine then after a few friends were able to. Now it’s overloading.

Got mine in for Dec 23. I’ve been double AZ until now, is it Pfizer that you get as a booster? Not had any illnesses from the jabs so far (though I have had Covid in the past too).

Bozza said it. So take with a punch of salt!

You’ll get Pfizer, or a half dose of Moderna. That’s what I’ve been told (am also double AZ).

Quite keen on getting my booster as apparently 2xAZ gives 0% protection against Omicron :grimacing:

I believe it gives 0% against an asymptomatic infection but might still help you have a better time overall. Like if you catch it you will feel it but you will still have a better time than if completely unvaxxed.

Because no vaccine is 100% effective. Also not every eligible person will be boostered, particularly the antis.
