Collected thoughts on card design (Part 1)

My full name follows Spanish naming customs, so a first name, middle name and two surnames. Makes it awkward on cards.

On the C&Co card is shows both in one line. Title - First Name - Surname 1 - Surname 2.

Much prefer when they only use Surname 1. All my cards from Spanish speaking countries only show that surname.

My RBS visa card has arrived! I actually like all 3 of my current collection of cards. The purple design is so much nicer than the multiple coloured Natwest version.

I doubt they’d completely do away with the branding, it’s deep heritage.

Makes me think they don’t use a template but I would have thought they would have done.

Except they scrubbed all mention of Child & Co from their website.

I agree that I think the branding is likely to be retained (for now) given the calibre of customers they have on the sort code, but equally, they’re also taking steps pointing to the opposite… so maybe they just need to figure out a long term exit strategy for HNW customers before axing it all.

There is still mention of it.

Interesting. They have removed it from their “Our Brands” page though and the above talks about it in past tense. I think it’ll eventually go.

Yep. No sign of it here. Wouldn’t surprise me if they slowly slop doing the cards for it as well.

Assuming they ditch the Child & Co branding they will just end up moving it over to standard RBS. The only remnant would be the sort code I guess.

It’s my view that if they had an intention of removing the branding they would have done so a very long time ago.

But I guess only time will tell.

I cross-linked to the correct thread. It’s not the most straightforward to do but we should try to keep things tidy where possible.

Anyway, card design! It’s been a while since I added anything new to my collection and I have an itch.

I’m hoping some more switching deals appear soon. I should be eligible for HSBC/FD, TSB, Barclays or Santander. The last time I had an HSBC card it said Midland Bank on the top and looked like this:

Come to think of it, I did also have one of these in the early 90s:
