Collected thoughts on card design (Part 1)

I think Virgin do slightly better designs outside of the UK (but this is becoming a theme):

Card design or card offer? On the latter we have probably the best product range in Europe, and free day-to-day banking as standard.

Designs are agreeably a bit samey though, mono colour or two tone gradient + logo covers 80% of 'em.

I just got a Child & Co card and I think the design is really nice.

I just wanted to note that the process seems to work exactly the same for ‘Revolve’ or child accounts as it does normally.

Anyone seen this for Cash App? Sabrina Carpenter.

My Monzo Plus has changed to a hot coral card in Apple Pay

Despite me still having my blue holographic card in app and physically?!

Just checked mine still yellow in Apple Pay

still disappointed I didn’t get my hands on one. I suspect my son might be keen when he gets to sign up for an account though…

I don’t know if this is a new feature, but the ‘inactive cards’ part of the app shows the correct artwork for each card, down to little details like whether the Mastercard logotype appears below their logo, which is a nice little touch. (It doesn’t go as far back as my 2017 pre-paid card though. And if I was being really picky, my current card is shown as having the ‘INVESTOR’ tag on the front, whereas it’s actually on the back. I think I can live with that.)

I slightly regret closing my Monzo account quite a few years ago. Is it a hard check when opening a new account?

Soft check, unless you apply for lending.

Nice set from HSBC Mainland China

Nice card! Is it just one for the collection or something you’re going to be making use of? Always seemed a bit pricey for what it was to me, but I can totally see how it’d make sense if you fly a lot.

Horse facing the right way :white_check_mark:

Still think if it were horizontal it would look better😏

For the travel perks and cash back is ok.

I don’t mind the vertical card, but I do like that the card in apple wallet has kept “BANK” underneath, just like on the physical card.

Are there any major differences between the World Elite cards offered in the UK?

The benefits are pretty wildly different from issuer to issuer. I think Mastercard merely stipulate that some kind of airport lounge access has to be included for example - but each of them has a slightly different implementation of that vague perk.

They all let you get President status or equivalent with the car hire companies which in turn gets you things like free second driver, lots of extra included miles, etc. Saved me £1000 or so last year.
