this is Ulster or RBS???
Ulster. Really think they could have at least said Ulster under the logo or something.
I guess they’re just looking to save on debit card costs and it probably won’t bother most of their customers.
It is why they’ve unified the whole group. Can save money by having the same adverts etc, just with a different logo at the end and a different accent for the voiceover.
I think it’s because eventually they will just transfer all of Ulster customers to RBS because it’s only NI now with Ulster and I recon they will close the Ulster brand and just keep RBS and NatWest
Think that would be a strange move considering most people now would just associate RBS with Scotland.
I would be highly surprised if they ditched the Ulster Bank brand. Specially since the legal name is “Ulster Bank Limited” and that is what shows on the banknotes under the bank logo.
That didn’t stop Clydesdale Bank using Virgin Money, but I still highly doubt Ulster Bank is going anywhere.
Very unlikely given the politics of this place. Besides, isn’t Ulster a division of NatWest rather than of RBS directly?
Clydesdale Bank is still an active brand and not everything got moved into the Virgin Money brand (including some of their cards). The Scottish banknotes also will continue to be issued with Clydesdale Bank branding on them rather than Virgin Money branding.
I think Yorkshire Bank is completely gone now though?
I didn’t mean they stopped using Clydesdale Bank, but just referring to the fact that Ulster Bank issuing notes wouldn’t stop them moving customers to RBS as Virgin Money does the same thing (not that I think a move to RBS will happen).
Neither are gone. Virgin Money is just a front. Some customers will have a user beginning with CB and some with YB. So when you sign up you won’t get told on the front end but if your username is CB your back end bank is. Clydesdale and if it is YB your back end bank is Yorkshire Bank. Everything internal is still in those retrospective back end names. Only the customer facing stuff is branded virgin money.
The thought of what hypothetical Virgin Money banknotes would look like had me giggling, though. Imagine that design language applied to actual cash.
I am assuming you need to be a french resident to get these?
It amuses me that French banks still stubbornly use the Carte Bleue logo even in the era of globalisation. (For the avoidance of doubt, this isn’t a criticism - the French banking system was years ahead of us with debit cards and PIN authentication.)
They were still using Minitel up to maybe ten or fifteen years back. Sticking with Carte Bleue is nothing
And they were years behind everyone else in moving to the EMV chip standard.
Do you lose your transaction history if you re-add the card? Thanks
