BOC limited edition Winter Olympics card isn’t bad. Looks quite nice in person. Plus with it being 10 year validity, they make it out of fairly durable feeling plastic. Have to say I’m not a fan of the UnionPay ‘Platinum’ font though.
And Mastercard didn’t sue over that logo?
Wouldnt disagree with you there. A unique card with some colour that doesnt look messy. Very nice
Different. And not bad. Although a bit too ‘Tetris’ for my personal taste
Nice card, shame their product is a little lacking.
I’ve just applied for HSBC Premier, having been rejected before. My income is now lower and I had a few hard searches and accounts opened recently so wasn’t too hopeful. No problem, though - accepted straight away and also offered overdraft (first £500 is interest free) and Premier credit card. I accepted both seeing as Credit Karma sent me a notification saying they’d just done a hard search.
It didn’t ask anything about how I was going to meet the £50K savings/investment requirements, although I do have an S&S ISA of UK shares which I can transfer to do that. It will also save me £60 per year on platform fees.
Will post debit/credit cards when they arrive ![]()
My first thought was “Curve”.
I think in terms of meeting the criteria, they review it every 6 months if I’m not mistaken.
Any idea when Lloyds will be issuing vertical debit cards ?
Lloyds has already started moving the credit cards over. No idea about the debits.
Similarly with NatWest, but in reverse.
That’s my understanding. It says that you have 6 months to meet the requirements.
Well, yes I think!
I had applied for premier previously but been offered advance instead (they were very nice about it!), I had a recent new mortgage at the time which I think impacted it. When I tried again recently (mainly to move everything to HSBC for simplicity) I was accepted straight away - albeit with the six month limit.
There had been a change in circumstance financially so it’s also possible the second time around I met the requirements on opening and hence got the card. Who knows. The worst that can happen is they say no and offer you advance.
The card is super nice - but there’s not a huge amount of other benefit over advance (apart from travel insurance and the “premier” line) for info.
I… need that
I like your idea
I’m going for it once I’ve opened an investment product with them, I’m guessing they will point blank say no without having one of their other products.
Today I realised I now actually earn over £50,000 a year. It would be £60,000 had the Tories not inflicted a 20% real terms pay cut on the public sector over the past ten years.
I’m still nowhere near Premier ![]()
£50k to invest OR
£75k income and ONE of the below:
- Insurance product (life, phone etc)
- Mortgage
- Investment (open from £50)
Really nice card, both in Apple Pay and in real life. Just wish the app itself was a little less garbage, but that’s for a different thread.
I actually quite like the app. ‘Balance after bills’ is an excellent idea.
Do you meet the minimum salary requirements? Do they check during application?
(Also, can you choose a sort code/branch like you can with NatWest?)
Isn’t that basically the Left to Spend figure in Monzo?
