Collected thoughts on card design (Part 1)

Does anyone have a photo of the current Nationwide FlexPlus card? Was considering opening an account then switching it to a FlexAccount to get both cards.

Probably not cost effective I know, but how about the braille being offered as standard with the option of having a card without it

It was very similar, just silver writing instead of gold. It was almost identical to the ordinary First Direct credit card (not the gold one) and they had to add the words debit and credit to the cards because they had a lot of complaints that customers couldn’t tell them apart.

I will likely become accustomed to it and reorder my cards so the FD is on top so it doesn’t annoy me not laying flat

Yea, when I opened FD account already the Mastercard design… so sad never ever used the old one before, but now I have find out the credit card still the old one, that’s why I so exited.
I love this card a lot =)

I’m in the very fortunate position (from a purely personal point of view) that none of my current cards have the braille dots on them and none of them expire until 2025.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for anything that helps anyone, but as you say, it’s just not something I need.

Then again, I’m an awkward sod anyway… I don’t even like embossed cards

Any thoughts on the design of the premium version?

Just wondered if you preferred it to the free design?

I’ve never seen the Smile savings card, until now. Rather nice glossy black. Simple, but matches the debit card.

Smile Bank is total pants, but the design language is top notch.

Yep.

Co-operative should have rebranded completely to Smile when it was bought by the private equity sharks, and invested in digital.

They’re the glossiest cards I’ve ever seen.

Absolutely. Smile/Co-op is about as legacy as they come. The app is almost hamster–powered.

Absolutely in LOVE with the new Coutts debit card

Best NatWest Group card by far, in my opinion.

If it’s that bad, why have you got accounts there?

I think it’s one of the worst card designs I’ve ever seen.

I think it’s great, really clean & unique… not what you’d expect from Coutts and the story behind the design is equally as interesting!

The colours, the pattern, it looks good enough to lick

I have an account, opened the other day so I could get a savings cash card. I collect bank cards, and we discuss that here.

I’m sure those customers of Smile, who don’t know any different, find it perfectly serviceable.

Personally, for a place (Co-op branch) to pay in cheques over £1000, a joint account with an overdraft (unused for years but the facility is there and Monzo don’t offer it), and a Visa credit card with a decent limit.

Edit: But yes, the app is pants and the website is ten times worse.

As far as I can tell there are four eight high street savings accounts which come with cards:

Barclays :white_check_mark:
Santander :white_check_mark:
Smile :white_check_mark:
Nationwide :eyes:

Edit:
Lloyds :eyes:
Halifax :eyes:
Bank of Scotland :eyes:
