Don’t see much sense in sharing all the same designs from the UK.
My favourite card designs are by HSBC, especially the old Lion design which I dearly miss. Oh and the new Lloyds cards. Now they look very sleek!
Having worked across Europe, especially in Germany, my card collection has drastically grown. I might have some interesting additions from time to time. ![]()
Short introduction to German banking: Germany has quite a complicated system, which I think is quite unique. It’s made up of publicly run savings and state-wide banks, along with co-operatives and private banks.
Every large city or county has their own locally run independent public (over 350 total) and co-operative (over 1000 total) bank in addition to the large national banking chains such as Deutsche Bank and Commerzbank spanning the entire country. So there is no comparison to the UK where you have the big four and that’s basically it. The public banks are unique to Germany and combined have a market share of above 50%. So you will find that red logo on branches and ATMs everywhere, yet most people outside of Germany have probably never even heard of “Sparkasse”.
I have accounts with Sparkasse in Berlin and Munich, which both have individual card designs and are masterfully recreated for the Apple Wallet. I just love the attention to detail! Just wish banks in the UK would take note and offer card designs from the regions and counties (maybe you, Nationwide?)!
