Think about it though. This is the reverse of the fraud situation that banks make people go through. They were sending the money to the Halifax. Not a plumber’s account or something but to a Halifax Ltd account. Not only that, but in response to a balance transfer offer that they both made and accepted.
Oh, sorry. I credited them with thought. My mistake.
Exactly. It’s unbelievable how bad they are sometimes.
I had another ridiculous incident with them last year. I asked for a copy of the terms and conditions of my credit card, as my type was no longer available and the T&C’s weren’t on the website. They said they’d post them.
After four weeks, nothing. I messaged them again and they said they’d “used the incorrect procedure” and it should have been done via a Data Subject Access Request. Nothing came after that either, so I contacted the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) as they deal with problems with data subject access requests. The ICO was absolutely baffled and said that term and conditions were not personal data, so should not have been handled via a Data Subject Access Request. They contacted the Co-operative Bank about it.
I was directed to the Financial Ombudsman Service and finally via them, the co-operative bank sent me a copy and gave me £125 compensation. I also received another copy directly from the co-operative bank two weeks later from a different year (!!!)
