Just to say that while I thankfully never got into debt, for a long time I used to switch bank accounts on the belief that this time I’d really get on top of not overspending.
It’s a difficult challenge and it’s definitely two parties. In my case it wasn’t made any easier by banks offering overdraft extensions.
Now, I know that’s a little unrelated to this and a bit what-about-ary but I think it’s relevant to this.
Yes, she could’ve done more to control her overspending but equally clearscore could’ve done more not to offer her additional credit offerings which, when you are in that cycle, may have seemed irresistible.
I hope they manage to resolve this over time.
I can kind of see both sides to the argument raging above, and I think it comes down to the conflict between what people want to use Clearscore for - checking their credit - and how Clearscore makes its money - advertising and selling credit products. There’s something of an unhappy marriage made with the two extremes.
To build on a comparison made earlier to food, it would be like WW customers wanting to lose weight, but WW making their money from selling gourmet meals.
It’s relevant because it acknowledges that there are individuals out there who cannot be held liable for their actions.
