This was on the roadmap to be launched early this year but unfortunately they took it off after they found through research that there isn’t a big enough use case for it. Research showed that people very rarely have the need to cash in cheques anymore.

So the method to cash in cheques with Monzo is still to send them to the Monzo HQ?
Yep and it looks like it will for this way for the foreseeable future. I have a savings account with Halifax that I use for nothing except cashing in the odd cheque I get at birthdays.

I was going to look into switching my NatWest current account to Monzo, looks like I’ll have to keep that account open then I’m able to accept cheques.
Yeah I also won’t ever only have Monzo as I don’t like the way you have to pay in cash. Have heard people having difficulties with PayPoint, mainly shopkeepers not having a clue what to do with the cards. Also it’s only a pound but I don’t think you should have to pay to deposit money into your account. Other than that I love Monzo but that can just be a little annoying for me.

So instead of paying to deposit cash, would you deposit it into another account and transfer it over?

Yeah that’s what most people are doing now if they receive a random cheque 
Let’s be honest - I don’t really think the figures Monzo produced count as ‘research’ - even they have accepted their figures were misleading…

The data was based on a crazy assumption that no monzo customer had ever paid in a cheque to a different bank. When that assumption unravelled, so did their statistic.

And we know the top two are already in progress
We don’t actually know if Committed Spend Pots are being actively worked on (I hope they are).
We only know that a staff build existed and that it needed significant improvements.

It’s also worth pointing out that Cheque Imaging wasn’t even in the Top 10 most voted features at all until we announced we were pausing the work on it.
That’s not to be dismissive of the people who really want and/or need this and have been vocal about it, simply an observation that publicly stating something is no longer happening, or being delayed will inevitably lead to a backlash, and lots of that will come from people who, if it came down to it, would rarely use the feature. Ultimately these decisions are never easy to make, but sometimes something has to give.
