Yes, I can see how this feature would be particularly important to you as a housebound person. I believe that Monzo should reconsider the decision not to implement this feature as it would be a great help to their vulnerable customers, and they do often make a point of trying to be a bank which is friendly to vulnerable customers. They can’t really claim this while not supporting this feature or paying in cash at the Post Office (for free) like other banks in my opinion.
For reference:
Banks supporting cheque imaging in-app include:
Starling
HSBC & First Direct
Lloyds, Bank of Scotland & Halifax
Barclays
All Virgin Money brands (Virgin Money, Yorkshire Bank, Clydesdale Bank & B)*
*note that this means the Virgin Money Essential account, from the former Northern Rock and “old Virgin Money” (the savings outfit) is not supported since they don’t have an app.
Banks not yet offering support:
Monzo
RBS, NatWest & Ulster Bank
TSB
Santander
Nationwide
Metro Bank
M&S Bank
Co-operative Bank & Smile
Tesco Bank
Danske Bank
Bank of Ireland
AIB
I suggest, if this feature is important to you or you are a vulnerable customer, it’s best to consider opening a secondary account with one of the supporting banks above, as @Anarchist has done.
