Anyone else submitted the AI questionnaire from Chase? Some interesting questions there.
Yes, a strange one. Looks like AI is coming to the Chase app.
Hereās me wanting something basic like bill splits or even ability to exclude transactions from spending š«Ŗ
It was kinda suggesting it would use AI to do those types of things. Not sure how
I wouldāve preferred integration to Apple iOS AI if anything.
I wanted to like Chase but their app is still unreliable. Apparently they use a lower encryption standard for their app compared to other bank apps.
They also donāt seem to like Monzoās Open Banking top up or transfers in-between your own accounts in general. Had my transfer into Monzo held for over 20 hours last week, but Iām giving them benefit of doubt this time as Open Banking transfers show my preferred name rather than legal name. On the plus side, their (AI assisted) customer service agents have empathetic tone so that helped reduce the stress when I asked them about the held transfer.
Last night this happened. Doesnāt give much confidence in their numberless card system if the app is randomly down, but still useful for travelling and online shopping.
Their entire app wasnāt working for a while yesterday. All transactions were not showing and errors all over the place.
Iām sure I saw this posted here already, maybe under Monzo in the media.
Anyway, this could be a good thing for Chase⦠or he is about to find out that things move at a snails pace at JP Morgan as opposed to Monzo.
Given heās previously held senior roles within both HSBC and Barclays, prior to joining Monzo, Iām sure he will be familiar with the pace.

Went in for a manual review, but I was then approved two minutes later so they must like me.
Before everyone jumps in with their referrals I did get my Dad to refer me, so sorry about that ![]()
I like the app, itās very clean. Iām tempted to make it my spending account.
For the 1% cashback, am I right in thinking that after a year I can re-activate that at any time by paying in £1.5k/month? And I can stop and start as much as I want?
Correct.
Donāt forget the Chase cashback is only on groceries, everyday transport, and fuel. If you still live at home youāre probably not buying many groceries.
I stopped using them for this as they were rejecting all the BP garages I was going to, even after presenting receipts that it was fuel only purchase.
They were like nop. Even the automated app payments where it clearly says pay at pump. They were glued onto MCC codes I have no control over
That really killed Chase for me. I also donāt get why they didnāt do the ā1% in UK on these thingsā but keep it as everything (or maybe a lower limited amount in UK with more when outside UK/EU/EEA).
They make more interchange outside of Britain/EU. Surely makes a lot of sense that theyād be able to more easily fund the cashback when Iām in Asia.
Yes, but you qualify for cashback the month after you deposit the £1.5k, not the same month.
Chase CDO Miki Van Cleave shares how retail banking UX is being rewritten
The seven deadly design sins
Van Cleave addressed the role design plays in driving customer choice and loyalty in banking apps, identifying recurring mistakes that undermine outcomes. She described seven ādeadly design sinsā:
Gluttony: Overdesign everything
Greed: Hoard headcount, budget and credit
Sloth: Stay in the UI comfort zone
Lust: Addiction to big swings
Pride: Worship the craft, avoid the business
Envy: Copy the cool kids
Wrath: Make stakeholders your enemy
Looking at Monzo.

Not sure if itās always been there, but tapping the three dots next to the account on the home page and then Pay In, you can choose a savings account etc and move money near instantly, instead of having to use the awful payments tab.
The payments tab has always been the worse part of the app, especially when moving money.
It has been there for a very long time
I noticed it from the start but found the 3 dots menu unintuitive, always have gone by the big Payment tab.
