RIP Chase, it was pretty inevitable to be honest.
The more I think about it, the more I wonder if Chase will just be another high street-like bank. I donât think theyâll ever bring out their CCs from the USA, and itâll just be a generic bank with little to no meaningful incentive to use them.
They cannot bring their US cards with reciprocal benefits to the UK unless they wanted to bleed money. The interchange fee is 0.2-0.3% in the UK, so even with the 1% cash back theyâre losing money.
Will use for the rest of this month but will then sack it off. Just wonât be worth it anymore.
Yep.
My spend will (and the other halfâs). Monzo for us is a much much better app thatâs faster and better analytics. The joint account will be getting properly used again as well.
I wonder if this will affect their rankings in the 6 months onwards.
I assume you still have to deposit ÂŁ1500 pm to get the limited cashback?
I already have 17 other current accounts. No need to switch my Chase one.
Not sure tbh. The page isnât clear and makes no mention of it for a page thatâs supposed to list the changesâŚ.
The lack of mention makes me think it will still need it but who knows.
Your credit reports must read like a short story ![]()
(Not that it matter much)
I prefer the Monzo app over Chase so will be moving back.
The email states that:
Just so you know, youâll still need to qualify to earn cashback in the usual way. You can find more information about how cashback works, including a reminder of how to qualify, in our updated terms and conditions. You can also find them in the app, by tapping the profile icon, then âLegalâ.
You do

Thanks. Hadnât had the email at the time.
As an investor, I couldnât possibly commentâŚ

Seriously, that must take some administering.
I was admonished by my credit reference agency for opening another ONE in the last 6 months.
Just caught up with the news from Chase re cashabck. Itâs disappointing that they are changing it but not surprising.
Personally, I used Chase as my main account for the cashabck offer but now will probably go back to using Monzo - while their cashabck offering is limited and you have to click on offers to activate them (which annoys me
), Monzo will probably be a better option than Chase now.
Give it a month or so, and Iâm sure there will be another Fintech launched thatâll want to bribe new customers with cash back anyway to switch to for the yearâŚ
