Cashback is coming to more customers 🚀

I’m in England but I agree it’s not worth sharing your data for the offers - they are a complete waste of time. I’ve opted out.

Offers were good in the early days of the pilot. They’ve gone rapidly downhill since I feel.

To be fair to Monzo, we all predicted that would happen, given the original offers were bankrolled by Monzo for testing purposes. We knew even then they were out of step with the cashback market and that when the proper offers rolled along they’d be more realistic.

That aside - for me personally, the supermarket offers were great, so the fact that I’m not getting any supermarkets at all now the bonus has expired is what I find disappointing.

Selling our “anonymised” data on the cheap now.

Likely to earn 22p in this set. 11p Trainline today, and same next week :man_shrugging:

Agree, loved the supermarket offer.

Apart from Disney (and admittedly that was quite a good offer at the time for me) I’ve only used the supermarket offer since 5th October and nothing else.

I’ve been using the gift card route on Cheddar a lot recent, some cracking deals there.

If you’re looking for a last minute Christmas present, they’ve got 17.5% cash back on Virgin Experience days, or lunch they’ve got 3.5% on Deliveroo gift cards.

Just an example that it might be better then any bank

I’ve got a query about cashback clawback.

I was victim of the train cancellations last Sunday because of the weather and wasn’t able to travel at all.

LNER processed the refund to my Flex card very quickly (the whole experience of reclaiming the money was very smooth).

The transaction in my Flex history is shown as being fully paid off.

However, I did get cashback on these tickets through the last but one LNER offer.

How quickly is it likely that the cashback will be reclaimed? (I’m assuming that it will be)

Many thanks,
David

To be fair, I’m not sure it ever has been taken back.

Had a similar experience with LNER a few weeks ago. No cashback clawback.

Thanks for responding. Interesting. I’d automatically assumed that the cashback would be reclaimed, as the initial transaction had, in effect, become null and void.

I’ll let you know if and when something does/doesn’t happen.

Typically that’s how it should work, but I’m sure some posts up the thread some had refunds but no cashback taken.

For safe measures it’s probs best to just leave it in the reward pot.

I’d already moved the money on to a higher interest EA account - I’ve transferred the equivalent back in to my Current Account just in case.

My view is that they can either ask for (or just take it) back if/when they want it & I would not object. I wouldn’t feel cheated if they did!

I don’t think technically it’s a refund, it’s compensation for the failure to run the service

Deleted, far better offers on my other bank accounts.

The other thing is that as I don’t use fast food outlets etc. (which Monzo clearly know, from what I purchase) why bother giving me these ‘offers’. Even if they gave me 50% cash back I wouldn’t be interested.

Give me something that I can use (Asda, Tesco etc.) otherwise it is a total and utter waste of time.

You got Asda and used it 4 days ago?

I only got one new one this month (Waitrose) and I assume the older ones are just extended.

Slightly disappointing really. Even the Waitrose one is after £35 spend.

That’s not difficult at Waitrose

Haha I was waiting for that comment.

To be fair I’ve never had an issue with Waitrose prices. I only ever go in for the odd thing - milk, sugar etc, and they are fairly standard prices. They are my go-to for nice wine, which even then is still £10 or so, so I never see this “Waitrose is super expensive” side.

They are also excellent for items that you just can’t find in Aldi - random spices for example.
