Cash deposits now available at the Post Office 💰📮

So Monzo shouldn’t bother with improving cash deposits? If people want to spend in cash, it’s better to keep it in your pocket than put it in a bank where you’ll need your debit card to spend.

Every time there’s a new feature, a few people come here saying it’s rubbish because it doesn’t meet their niche needs. If only Monzo had some sort of data from millions of people who actually use Monzo accounts with which to base decisions on.

I think they should improve the ability to deposit cash as there is clear demand for using cash.

If Monzo didn’t put so many limits on everything, this wouldn’t happen, and considering people complain fairly often, I doubt their needs are that niche.

Yes, of course they will base decisions on data and profit. Monzo will probably be aware that plenty of people use other accounts to deposit cash as it is free.

Exactly. Some people complaining about the limits and fees doesn’t mean the feature itself is rubbish.

If you need to use cash, you’re not depositing it in a bank account, you’re keeping it in your pocket.

That’s not the conclusion I draw from the people who always complain on here.

You might, unsurprisingly, want to deposit it again.

If you want to sent me £1500 cash I’m happy to scientifically test your hypothesis

Seems like a fair experiment.

It costs them a lot less than having to keep branches open left, right and centre.

This is good but please please please get rid of the £1000 limit every 6 months as it’s too restrictive to anyone that receives cash regularly. I get paid football match fees as a referee usually in cash or cheque and I hit the limit pretty quickly last summer.

Excellent work. No notes.

Yeah, but that’s a single positive against a significant amount of negatives.

This is great news! I don’t use cash a lot but this helps open Monzo up to more customers.

Plus! If I take cash out for the nail bar I can pay whatever is left back in rather than having it sat in my purse for weeks and weeks.

Cash unspent? Does not compute

I literally only use it to get my nails done. There’s nowhere else I want to faff about finding my purse in the depths of my handbag when I can just scan my phone

The obvious answer is to get your nails done more often

Glad to finally see Post Office deposits! Another little thing on that page… The capitalisation of PayPoint is inconsistent

half the people in this thread are saying why do i need to pay £1 for a service i wont use anyway as I never have to pay in cash but if i did use it, which i won’t, why do i need to pay £1

Monzo is a business. It needs to make money. This is one way to make money or cover their costs. Why should it be free?

I think it is more about “why is it free when other banks don’t charge for it?”. Obviously, it is because Monzo wants to pass the costs onto the user, but it is still something people will think about when comparing Monzo to other banks.

It is like if Monzo charged for their standard current account. Sure, they are perfectly entitled to, but why are they when other banks are able to let users use them for free?
