Card not working on TfL

My card is working absolutely fine everywhere except for when I try to tap it on TfL (tube and underground) it says to contact the card issuer and won’t work. However using the card via my phone does work on TfL so it’s something about the physical card.

For context, I locked my account recently as my phone was stolen (not my physical card) and I locked it down so my mobile banking and Google Pay couldn’t be used by the thief. Since reinstating my card, app etc it’s all working fine except the physical card on the tube.

Trying to get help on the app is impossible with such a specific and odd problem, which seems to be due to some kind of glitch. Any help would be much appreciated!

Have you unfrozen the card itself? Maybe try freezing it and unfreezing it again.

Thanks, I tried freezing and unfreezing but unfortunately it didn’t help.

And I’ve looked into the TfL cyber incident and it doesn’t seem to have affected bank card payments.

still a mystery…

I’ve received emails from TfL about 2 expired cards and needing to update them. I’ve tried to do this but its impossible due to the cyber incident which seems to have been around for ages. Anyone got any news on this?

Does the card work as contactless in other places?

Don’t want to start a new thread - but anyone know of a good app that sends alerts when there are delays on specific TFL lines? I want to receive a notification every time my commuting lines are not running.

I haven’t personally used this since my commute doesn’t include the tube, but I think this is what you want. It’s in the Citymapper app.

Thanks. I have that switched on, but it doesn’t seem to be notifying me. Are you on Android? I can’t see where you can specify the lines.

No this is iOS, but from the home screen you can select Tube, then switch to lines on the screen that comes up. Select the line you want then hit the star in the top right. That should hopefully work.
