Car Insurance

They wouldn’t know on 3rd party unless you were in an accident and they discovered it/asked the question but they certainly can tell from the MOT on your insured car.
If you did thousands of miles using that third party part they may have questions about if it’s valid ass it could mean you are the main driver fronting.

If you go over and have an accident then they can use any breach to get out of paying. I am not sure if dealers log service mileage for when you get services at garages when new. I doubt they pull the data but if in an accident they might. They will wriggle to get out of paying.

Looks like car insurance still hasn’t chilled out

Almost spat my coffee out when the auto-renewal quote appeared in my inbox.

Looks like £389 is the best I can see, that’s also getting a £20 Sainsbury’s voucher via Confused

Nothing changed other than an extra year of NCB :man_shrugging:

WTF am I suppose to get that cheaper. Tried comparethemarket and money supermarket still around that £400 mark.

I was getting freaked out by all the comments here, but weirdly mine went up by all of £2/month😁

Mine is down 40%!! (Based on what I paid vs what comparison sites are saying now)

I’m so surprised that I fear that I’ve got something wrong, but it’s exactly the same details as last year. It’ll be interesting to see what the renewal comes through at.

I’ve just gone for the £389 and claimed the £20 Sainsbury’s voucher.

Annoyingly quotes used to be 30 days but looks like the trend is now just valid that day so I’m going to lock that in.

I’m going to keep seeing over the next two weeks and do a quick cancel and buy if cheaper than £369.

Based on Martin Lewis saying 26 days ahead is optimal I’m not holding my breath it’s going to alter much in my favour.

+£100 over a year extra isn’t too bad on last year but it still fricking annoying that’s like +40%

Well, it’s that time of year again. I nearly fell off the floor when AA gave me my “renewal” quote. I don’t get why firms are allowed to do this. It was nearly £800 when I only paid £545 a year ago. Summary below :eyes:

Anyway I did my usual trick and managed to get it for £350. Some difference!!

Auto renewal is such a low grade scam on the hope people don’t notice.

Top Tip: When getting the quote don’t include accidents at comparison stage. This way you’ll get a lower quote to start with. Then, obviously, add them into the quote before accepting.

Mine is thankfully starting to come down again after a period where people kept crashing into me. I wasn’t even in the car for the first one! Then I was hit by a cyclist, which still boils my blood now that they basically got away with dangerous driving but still managed to write my car off (who knew a road bike could cause nearly £10k of damage!)

PS, get a dashcam kids. I do now but didn’t then. He basically lied to the insurance company and tried to sue me for damages. Thankfully the AA saw right through the bullshit and agreed it was no fault on my side.

Absolutely. It’s also ridiculous they class things which aren’t your fault - like being hit by an uninsured driver - an at-fault claim. The whole industry is shady af.

Ours is coming up too. We had a nice surprise as it’s gone down from £874 to £799 to cover both of our cars (PHEV & Petrol).

Quick comparison and Aviva are still by far the cheapest for us, so it looks like we’ll be staying another year.
