Calculating difference between capital contributions, and investment growth

I see my S&S (Adventurous) ISA has grown by 28.23% in a year which is hard to believe. However I also contribute £50 monthly, added £5k recently and also Monzo add roundups. My fund therefor is growing but how can I tell how much of the growth is down to investment growth rather than my additions? Maybe this is ‘performance’? Be glad for some help please.

Yeah it would be nice to see the difference. I have an account with J.P Morgan Personal Investing and their graph clearly shows the difference between my contributions and growth.

I submitted this exact feedback to Monzo through the app a while back so hopefully it’s somewhere on their backlog of potential features :folded_hands:

This is their advice, I’m going to try it now!

You can work out how much of your fund’s growth is from investment performance by checking your ISA statements and adding up your contributions. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Open the Investments section in the app and select your Adventurous ISA.

  2. Tap the settings cog (O)

at the top right.

  1. Select “Documents” and then “Account statements.”

  2. Choose the date range you want (for example, the last 12 months) and download the statement.

On your statement, you’ll see each “payment in” (like £50 monthly top-ups, your recent £5,000, and roundups) listed separately from any fund performance changes.

• Add up all the “payment in” amounts to get your total contrihutions so far.

  • Subtract your total contributions from your current pot value-the rest is investment growth (after fees).

  • If you’d like to work out a percentage return, divide the investment growth by your total contributions.

This should show you how much of the 28.23% comes from market performance and how much is from the money you’ve added. Let me know if you’d like help going through the numbers together.
