Is there any update on this? having virtual cards is all well and good, but if you already have something like car insurance setup (not direct debit) from your main account I would have expected it could be attached to a pot. What’s more surprising is it’s on the list to pay from the pot but cant be selected.
I’m guessing you’ve given permission for your car insurance company to bill your card for each payment?
If so, that’s a [CPA](Continuous payment authorities and because it isn’t a Direct Debit/Standing Order (or repeat bank account payment) Monzo can’t track it accurately enough to be able to pre-load the main account from the designated pot for the same amount as the amount debited by the insurance company (which is always debited from the main account)
Other CPA examples - Amazon Prime, Spotify, Microsoft, Google, Disney+, Netflix, etc.
I pay it annually so it’s not set up as a direct debit.
It shouldn’t matter how much it is, just like your main account if there is not enough money in it then the transaction should be declined, it’s for individuals to ensure they have the money in the pot.
Then pay from pot won’t work. While you can see the annual payment in Scheduled Payments, you can’t select the payment to be paid from a pot. Because it’s a CPA.
The only way to be able to assign it to a Bills pot is to set up a Direct Debit with the insurance company.
I know pay from a pot won’t work for this kind of transaction, that’s why I searched for it and found this thread. I appreciate it’s not a feature available right now, I’m trying to find out the status of this to allow CPA’s to come out of a pot.

It’s not an auto/integrated ‘Bills pot’ solution though, but 
isn’t able to auto-deal with CPA’s from Bills pots at this time.

I think you are missing the point of the Feedback & Ideas thread, I’m trying to give feedback to say, hey here is a feature that would be useful.
I 100% get that right now, what I’m asking about is not supported, I wouldn’t be asking for the feature if it was already available.
I get that we now have virtual cards and they are great for paying by phone in a shop or one-off purchases online but if your card is compromised and you need to reset and create a new one then one CPS’s will be broken and you need to get them all set up again on a new card. By allowing CPS’s to be paid from a pot through the main account (like direct debits) would be a very good feature.

I did ask but unfortunately, they said they codun’t.
They definitely can.
If your card expired/lost/stolen, then they’d have to change your card number.
Thanks, Revels, I’ll call them back, maybe it’s just the person I spoke to didn’t know how to do it. but even if they can this would still be an amazing feature and save so much time and issues.

Totally agree. But from a technical standpoint, it isn’t likely to happen unfortunately. There is a workaround from a few years ago which may interest you if such a payment mechanism is badly needed:
