They were actually available for a while, but now they have automatically opted everyone in.
It’s a very clean app but the font is too big on transactions and balances, could be a few sizes smaller to make it look more sleek.
I do like the white and blue, a dark mode would also be nice.
Just wish they’d hurry with credit and debit notifications, and transfers between my own accounts through the app, I seemed to only be able to do this via the website.
I agree that the font is huge, although I’ve always assumed that this was for accessibility.
I think it would be better if they simply adopted iOS dynamic text support, so the font could increase in size for people who had their system text size larger but be more “normal” for everybody else. I think there’s a similar feature on Android too.
At the moment it’s a bit of a shock when you navigate to one of the pages where everything is blown up, while other things (like the transaction list) are a relatively standard size.
If you’re referring to TSB, you can already make transfers between your accounts through the app. It’s under “move money”.
I’ve looked at that and it doesn’t show my pot or my savings account, and I had to set the savings account up as a payee for it to do it.
The “move money” option should show your savings account. Mine shows my other TSB current account, my Easy Saver and my credit card; they’re at the top of the list, above the payees I’ve set up, so I don’t know why your savings account doesn’t show.
It won’t show pots though. To add money to a pot you have click on the pot and then “add money now”, and you can only add it from the linked Spend & Save account.
Strangely it doesnt show the savings account except the payee that I set up.
I will delete the payee and standing order and see if then it shows up.
Edit: nope, but if I go the savings account, it’ll show my Spend and Save to move money to that, but not the other way around. Crazy.
Is there not a dark mode on NatWest? I don’t use dark modes so unsure!
I do like the Natwest app, it’s very clear and the way they display transaction information with a running balance displayed if you swipe left.
It’s nice they are finally catching up on transaction notifications, just wish they did it on their credit cards as I use the reward card.
My biggest bug bear and it says a lot about the underlying setup is overdraft notifications. Most banks warn you before you go into the red. Natwest would text when you’ve actually gone over but they would give you 1 days grace to get into the black before charging.
Does it retrospectively add them to old transactions do you know, or is it just for new ones?
Edit: to answer my question, looks like it’s retrospective. Now they just need to bring it to the credit card…
Edit of edit: well well - it works for credit cards too. If only they reported in Monzo open banking under the right date
I don’t know why Nationwide decided to add logos… looks
I wonder why they went with that shape? Surely circular would be better that would just allow Twitter/Facebook logos to be used easily.
What’s wrong with it? It looks fine to me.
Starling have square logos, not circular. So do Lloyds and Halifax. Barclays have circular ones.
It doesn’t match the shape above, it’s crammed in, it’s also been given a black bottom to make it fit and they haven’t rounded the corners.
1/10 for effort.
I hate the new huge font on NatWest. One of the reasons I prefer their app for making payments or managing bills etc. was it looked really smart; now not too dissimilar to TSB font with no fix available.
I’m yet to find another banking app I like through design and functionality. Starling looks tidy but they’re hanging on to a previously rejected application from November so I have to wait 12 months to reapply.
Monzo would be nice if you could tap the account you want from the list, and then just opens to transactions instead of the card showing, and then pulling up to go through transactions etc.
Back to the accounts drawing board for me
