Do you see BACS being phased out in favour of FPS? It seems to be the superior payment platform in a number of ways.
Probably beyond the scope of this thread 
They are different systems and serve very different purposes. You could say Bacs is quiet similar to ACH in the US. Of course, Bacs has the rather ironic advantage nowadays of being re-callable, which Faster Payments is not (to all intents and purposes).
Interesting debate, but nonetheless not for this thread!

The Rugby World Cup ENG v SA will be playing in the last hour of this time frame so I would of thought there would be transfers requested by people “at the bar” with friends - just need a bit of cash shared that’s all instead
Presumably P2P payments would still work in this time since their not FPS so you could split the bill as you wish 
If I make a “bank transfer” to a Monzo account (with account # and sort code) rather than a Monzo contact, does that currently go through the FPS gateway? Will that change after Saturday’s migration?
Yep, P2P won’t be affected. Most things won’t, unless they’re backed by FPS (like our Transferwise integration).
That does go through FPS, yes, so that won’t work during the maintenance.

Don’t laugh, but before avocado became fashionable I had an argument with a friend that guacamole couldn’t be made from avocado because they’re so different. Obviously I was wrong, but I still don’t believe it to this day.
