Apple Wallet to integrate with Open Banking APIs

Screenshots pls.

of the setup screen. The RBS one is on discord, but not mine.

Is it just balance and transaction history, or does it gain any of the budgeting Apple Card has?

These are the setup stepsā€¦

Clicking ā€œContinueā€ (2nd Screenshot) takes you to Monzo.
You then get sent back to Apple Wallet after, and you get a confirmation screen.

Then transactions show (as per usual) within the card.

Some merchant images exist (ie Amazon), and most donā€™t.

No budgeting - yet (I guess/hope/imagine)

Looks awesome! Thanks for sharing!

On RBS, it also has the entire account transaction history, grouped by year. Does Monzo have that too?

Joint accounts also seem to be supported.

I didnā€™t scroll down (assumed it was just a transaction history). Itā€™s a HELL of a long way to scroll :eyes:

But yes!

Amazing! Thank you!

No worries. Shout if thereā€™s any more questions.

One bug bear, is ā€œAtmā€, not ā€œATMā€ :joy:

Are there any cards in your apple wallet that donā€™t seem to be supported?

My Revolut Business isnā€™t supported.

My Barclaycard Platinum Credit Card has support it seems :eyes:

Some pics of the setup process from Macrumors:

This is the most excited Iā€™ve ever been for a .1 update! :joy:

Nooooo :sob: This was my main worry. Barclays are always slow to include Barclaycard in anything. Thanks for checking! edit: OH! HAS SUPPORT! YAY!

One interesting thing - Barclaycard shows the ā€œAvailableā€ balance against the credit card, whereas Monzo Flex doesnā€™t :eyes:

Guess Flex isnā€™t a real credit card then :see_no_evil:

And the use of the dollar sign instead of the pound sign.

Yeah that was in the list of known issues @N26throwaway shared I think

I think itā€™s interesting to note, who is actually powering this, because itā€™s not Apple. Itā€™s one of their fintech/bank subsidiaries behind Apple Card (Apple Processing LLC). So thatā€™s effectively them entering the UK market.

And circling back to that credit kudos acquisition again. What services did they provide? Credit worthiness assessments based on open banking data. Apple (or rather Apple Payment Services (UK)/ Apple Processing LLC) now has that data, and it lives solely on your on device.

How was Apple rumoured to assess credit worthiness for future Apple Pay Later applicants? With your apple spending history and open banking data.

Enter credit kudos to assess you for credit completely on device and then submitting its assessment to Apple. That eliminates the privacy concerns folks rightly have about open banking being used (abused) in that way (which is what Yonder do).

So, pure speculation of course, but Apple Pay Later soon? :eyes:

This certainly paves the way. Thatā€™s for sure.

I expected to see the balance when going to pay for something, which is where my excitement was aimed.

Disappointed it doesnā€™t, but a good step forward.

Flex shows balance used minus interest on top, which is fine as I know what my actual limit is, but could be more transparent.

Does it work with Joint accounts?

Yes (with RBS). But donā€™t know about Monzo.

I donā€™t have one. Sorry. :sob:

And Iā€™m not Apple. Dang. Weā€™ll never know until someone with a JA and iPhone running the latest iOS shows us the light

Come on ElGoog - 25 years later and still playing catchup/hatchet

I think the chances of Google getting this are higher than me getting a joint account :stuck_out_tongue:
