So what you’re saying is… they told you and you’re not allowed to say anything?

Unlikely collaboration but not impossible but probably not likely at all as said before
About as legit as a source can get! But still hoping for the card so I’ll believe anything to get my hopes up
If they do release a financial product in the UK soon I bet it will be their by now pay later service.
I wish. No I was just thinking about it logically, it’s currently in beta in the US and they are funding it themselves this time rather than using a third party like with the credit card. The BNPL also won’t have the same regulatory hurdles as a full fledge credit card does. So it’s pure speculation on my part but it does make sense.
Damn, US only for the time being
Given it’s only over 6 weeks it’s basically buy now pay in full next month.
I don’t get fortnightly payments. For most people, if you have the money in two weeks you have the money now. It’s only useful if it takes you over more than one payday.
Christ this threads long, what are the key benefits of Apple card in the UK compared to other cards?
It’s not available in the UK.
No I know… I’m asking what the benefits of it are, other than it being neatly tied into the wallet app?
Like isn’t the only reason its appealing in the US something to do with how the fees in the US tend to be higher so the cashback is an appealing option for them?
I think that’s why people have said we wouldn’t have the same cashback offers anyway as it wouldn’t be viable here, so there probably wouldn’t end up being the same sort of benefit to the product in general.
It’s Apple. So 49%* of the globe wants it regardless of what it is. Power-Marketing.
The other 51%* are split into 50%* Android and 1%* others (Nokia, Sony/Ericsson, OnePlus, Nothing, Windows Phone, etc.)

Thanks so much for sharing this video. Very interesting watch. It seems like Apple is trying to take a piece of that digital payments pie and succeeding. I’m interested in seeing what the future holds.
Yeah I found it quite interesting, I had no idea how it worked and who took what fees - it makes sense why the banks would create Paze but I don’t think it really stands much of a chance now against Apple and Android Pay
I wouldn’t write it off completely.
At some stage, it’s likely that apple and google will get called out for the anti competitive aspects of their payment systems (i.e. the default NFC payment system shouldn’t be locked to Apple or Google’s system), and this might open things up for competitors.
Long term, payment systems are likely to be driven by cost so, if banks can undercut apple’s transaction/interchange fees, we might see retailers push for other systems?
But, yeah, short to medium term, I can’t see people ditching apple/google pay
Do you mean the NFC locked as in we could have Android Pay on an iPhone and vice versa or use a third party option entirely?
Yeah, in the same way that various companies opposed Safari and Mail being the unchangeable default option, I think banks will get annoyed that (on iPhone) double tapping the side button brings up Apple Pay and holding it near a contactless terminal brings up Apple Pay, with no option to change the default payment system.
I believe they do…
The fees vary worldwide and by the card issuer, but in the United States, it is believed to be 0.15% of a credit card transaction and 0.5 cents for a debit card transaction.
