I disagree. This sort of thing hasn’t really been tested. But really needs to be!
So would I, I don’t want there to be an initial payment and have everything in instalments, I’d like a proper fintech credit card so I don’t need to keep a spending account topped up. However with their phrasing of “credit cards are the past” on the Flex page, they’ve given their marketing team a tricky job to then try and market a credit card if they did ever shift I feel.
Why would I strip away rewards? That is a part of the package as a whole.
Amex? Just because it doesn’t meet very specific criteria set by a person doesn’t mean it is good as a whole. Despite reputation its acceptance criteria aren’t overly strict. Credit limit review after six months. Rewards (not sure about the fee free cards, but you said to take them out anyhow). Good customer service (phone better than chat).
But none of this changes the fact that Apple Card in the U.K. would just be a card provided by a 3rd party bank with no or little cash back but looks pretty. And I say that as an Apple fan.
My exact argument when people want a Monzo card.
Apple at least have the money to throw at it if they wanted to.
I mean that was true before brexit but post brexit we have little top stop them going up if I recall.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they did a deal with Amex to increase its use in the UK and get around the whole caps thing as well.
The law on interchange fees remains the same on the UK post Brexit.
The interchange cap applies to AMEX co-branded cards as well.
As I see it, yes

I hope he’s wrong about iMacs waiting for the M3 SoC but we’ll see…
Nothing about a UK launch tho ![]()
Apple will use past spending on hardware and services to evaluate customer creditworthiness.
It this is the criteria when it launches in the UK and I don’t get approved, I would like an official enquiry ![]()
So I guess that my 1 missed iCloud payment of £0.79 makes me an auto decline? ![]()

Latest rumour is Apple Card will launch in UK and Germany this year (go to 20m34s):
“an anonymous listener wrote in … to say … they are working with apple’s financing team in Europe, and that the Apple Card will be launching in the UK and Germany in 2023 … you heard it here first”
No detail beyond that – but I hope it’s true!
