App Feedback / Requests

Hello,

I’m new to Monzo and have some suggestions on how to make the app better (for me at least):

  1. Have the option to completely turn off ‘Activity’ and ‘Suggested Actions’ on the Home Screen. I’d rather the activity be accessible to me only when going into each individual account.
  2. I would love to have the ‘Savings Pots’ listed like the Personal Account Pots on the Home Screen so I can see my individual savings pots and be able to access them without going into a secondary screen for savings.
  3. I’d like to be able to set up Direct Debits or Standing Orders from my Savings Pots. I was a Chase UK customer and they allowed Direct Debits and Standing orders from Savings accounts/pots.

I hope you’ll seriously consider these suggestions as (for me) they’d make using the Monzo app an even better experience.

Thank you :slightly_smiling_face:

You’re already in the account you want to be in when you’re on the Home Screen.

This would be good, not sure why they moved it like this as you could historically see a list.

That defeats the objects of Savings pots hence monzo designed it this way. Very few banks offer you interest on your bills balances these days.

Chase Savings accounts are essentially current accounts with interest attached, hence you can apply direct debits to them.

The answer is to schedule your payments out of your Savings Pots (unsure if that’s possible).

This would fix it. Schedule a payment from the Instant Access Savings into a designated (Bills) pot.

Sadly, it isn’t possible yet - and given that Monzo hides Savings from the ‘easy interraction UI’ (for obvious reasons) - I don’t see it happening. Manual withdrawals continue…

As far as I can tell, you can’t set up any sort of payment from the Savings Pots. I’ve had to create a normal pot for the purpose I needed it for, but now that money isn’t earning interest (sadly).

Because it’s a savings pot, not a “spending pot”.

The point I’m making is that other banks allow it. Chase UK and LLoyds to name just two. It’d be nice if Monzo allowed it too.

Yes, unfortunately, you can’t.

Manually move money from the Savings account into the ‘normal pot’ 1 day before the outgoings in the ‘normal pot’ are taken - this’ll give you maximum interest.

Lloyds don’t allow you to spend from saver accounts.

I’m in a betting club in work, and pay £5 a week into it. I was able to set up a regular payment to the person managing the betting club from a savings account I had with Lloyds. It worked absolutely fine.

A standing order, yes. That’s not the same as spending.

Chase at least allow scheduled transactions out of savings pots. My savings are currently there rather than Monzo because of they boost they offered and I’m finding being able to schedule transfers to my other current accounts (Monzo/Nationwide etc) the day direct debits go out really useful rather than having to manually make the transfers like I had to from Monzo savings.

Hopefully one day Monzo will catchup or I may not bring my general savings back to Monzo when the Chase boost ends.

Which is what I want to be to do with Monzo. My day to day spending comes out of my weekly budget using a spending pot and a virtual card linked to it.

I always find this statement a bit odd. How do you know they’re even remotely interested in offering this - i.e. in the “race” to begin with?

Happy Birthday! :birthday_cake: :tada:

Thank you! :folded_hands:
