I donât think if it was done now or in 3 years time, the unhappy folk would change their view.
Itâs done, almost all things change with the times, competition exists for a reason and nobody is forcing people to stay.

Youâre right, they still would, people will still be idiots then.
But lots of the complaints are centred around single/joint accounts in the main feed and not seeing enough transactions. Both of those things are about to be options that you can change
If you got a new screen and youâre a bit âArrghhh, I miss seeing ALL my transactionsâ or âWHY IS MY PARTNERS SPENDING ON THE JA HERE!!!11!!oneâ and then you can tick two boxes and get 10 transactions instead of three or tick a box and get just your own transactions there, the outrage would instantly be less.
Can agree this would be frustrating, though that is coming soon as you say.
The bulk about the design though, thereâs far worse out there, but also some mildly better.
Donât think personally itâs the greatest adaptation yet until full flexibility comes and I can pick and choose when I want to see.
One thing I personally think this thread (and others) desperately need is a way to flag unhelpful comments. Once flagged, it should hide that comment (with a button to temporarily unhide it) and direct the person who posted it to a thread specific FAQ thatâs constantly getting updated with the latest information.
You can kinda do this on GitHub (without an FAQ) and it does a great job at keeping threads on topic, highlighting whatâs actually important and filtering out useless noise.
Not approving 75% of the newbie threads would solve a lot of this.
The last nine comments have been pretty unhelpful. Theyâve completely buried my genuine question.
They should totally reconsider, it would make some of the threads much easier to digest where feedback and suggestions are concerned
Not that itâs here just for your voice, but to help visibility here it is again
Iâm not aware of any Spotlights that are pot specific, would you like to add a little more context and maybe a screenshot of what youâre talking about?
I mean from the Spotlight view that lists your account and the pots beneath it.
Spotlights / Personal Balance.
It lists your Account Balance followed by all your pot balances. Seems like a missed opportunity that you canât click through from there.
Okay, now Iâm with youâŚ
Youâre are right, it does look like this screen should allow you to hop into each pot respectfully, or even customise what accounts/pots are included.
I was actually under the impression all of the spotlights take you to trends, but this one doesnât and takes you a custom view (which is weird). I feel like it should take you directly to the balance tab (unless they plan on adding more custom views for spotlights).
Iâve said it before and iâll say it again, this update needed more time to cook
This was also my confusion, but it appears the âPersonal Balanceâ/âJoint Balanceâ spotlight takes you to a custom view with a dead end
Oh come on. Monzo have released a new home view that lists transactions without showing the transaction date. Who, pray tell, ever requested to view their transaction activity without the dates (but with the direct debit references)? Itâs just one of the many odd decisions that prioritise style over substance.
Do these options exist yet? Itâs fanboyish to think we should be grateful for a product we might get in future, instead of reviewing the product weâve been given to use now.
This is no longer in Labs - itâs been given to everyone. If anything, it might have been helpful for monzo to have had more criticism in the Labs phase, so it didnât get rolled out in this early state.
Coming but not confirmed how soon.
Monzo have already confirmed theyâre working to fix this widget, people continuing to complain about it is a waste of time for both Monzo and the person complaining. The only thing unclear about the customisable activity widget is if theyâre going to include an option to show the date/total without tapping on âSee Allâ, which judging by a few of the comments since the last update, this will more than likely be on their radar if it wasnât already.
The home was/is meant to be an overview of your money, not a deep dive into transactions, stop acting like an option to do said deep dive is completely missing as that would be a falseâŚ
If you think itâs âfanboyishâ to support a bank that actually listens and takes constructive criticisms/feedback onboard and implements change, then I guess iâm 100% a fanboy
Youâre assuming they didnât get enough criticism, but that is blind ignorance to suit your narrative. They got more than enough criticism regarding the early roll out, but Monzo had deadlines to meet for upcoming product launches which iâm 99% sure theyâre not just contractually obliged to meet, but the new UI was a bottleneck they needed to fix before they could continue.
While I donât necessarily agree with being a fanboy or not, I donât disagree that criticism of the product as it is now is and should be welcome. Whatâs not is un constructive criticism or not reading that something has been flagged and is being worked on and saying the same criticism over and over.
Was it realised too early, I think yes. But that means itâs not done and constructive criticism helps it move forward. But it only needs raising once.
It may only be a home screen in a banking app to you, but to many of us, who check it multiple times a day, itâs an integral part of the user experience, and I absolutely HATE it. Vitriolic enough? Watching people reinvent the wheel over and over again is a tiring experience. Itâs something that millennials seem obsessed with, and if they want a stupid home screen getting in the way of everything then fine they can have it, but surely thereâs room also to respect the wishes of (mostly) older users who are perfectly happy with the app as it is? To reinforce how much I hate it, Iâm already considering moving all of my funds across to my Revolut account. For real. Thatâs how much it bugs me. Customisation is completely cool, just donât force it down my throat. Thatâs why weâre angry. Not astonishing at all really.
You could change banks if you hate it so much?
Youâre of course fully entitled to move your money and bank with whoever you choose, but claiming Monzo have reinvented the wheel and you hate everything, to then go to Revolut is baffling.
