App Evolution (new look Monzo app): Feedback Megathread 📣

One thing I know @Peter_G has been banging the drum for is some sort of notifications list/place.

I had a little 17 on the corner of the app icon this morning. It’s the 1st, so not unexpected, lots of direct debits have gone out, but I have two accounts to check over. I then remembered about interest that’s been paid on a pot, but not Plus interest yet.

Once the app is open, I have no idea who/what/where/why unless I go and count them or look for an anomaly and hope I haven’t missed it.

World’s most minor bit of feedback alert!

I’m using a Galaxy Fold, so I have a narrow screen. The “Updating …” text at the top line breaks such that I thought there was a bit of a rogue pixel / artifact to start with.

On a wider display, the ellipsis is next to the ‘Updating’ rather than underneath it. Probably an Android thing rather than a Monzo thing. Resolutions, resolutions, resolutions :man_shrugging:
The answer unFolds :eyes:

BTW - doesn’t my Home_v2 display look very Deutschland? :de:

A bit of a reflection on App Evolution. I’m still very much here for it as a new homescreen (assuming that the card carousel and associated paradigm disappears too). But I wonder if it’s trying to do too much?

For example, I’m super keen for a net worth figure and a list of all of my accounts/assets/debts etc. I think my assumption was that it should live on the home screen, but I wonder if a hand off to a separate “net worth” section that soberly lists all accounts/pots and tots up the figure, maybe a bit like the old accounts/pots list that you can expand/hide by category?

That way, with customisation, users can then choose what to show on the home screen.

I have a very stupid piece of feedback. The page feels a little bit too… imbalanced to the right? The “Account” text should be moved a bit further to the left imo.

I see what you mean. The ‘A’ of Accounts does line up with the ‘M’ of the monzo on the card(s) below it, but maybe it has to be aligned with the left-hand card edge instead? (like this example):

Another option, line up the right-hand of ‘Accounts’ with the right-hand of the ‘monzo’:

Option two looks just right.

It might even look better where it is, but with a matching font-weight to the ‘monzo’ (although that’s a graphic image on the card image rather than a font)

IMHO the whole thing looks awful. I’ve had another look today hoping there would have been some improvements in the past month or so but nothing has changed. Turned it off again.

Can only hope, based on the app evolution team AMA the other day that things are being worked on in the background.

As we both have our complete day to day personal/joint and business banking with Monzo I really don’t want to move. But at the moment they seem to be taking a neat, easy to use and logical interface and replacing it with a mess.

Perhaps I’ve just had a bad day…

Thanks for flagging this, I’ve just fixed it so will be in next week’s TestFlight build

Out of interest what is is specifically about the old interface that was better for you?

Would find this easier to read if in alphabetical order :face_with_monocle::

I think the feedback link is much better in its new location near the bottom :+1:

I used an ATM today. It’s got the right logo in the new and old feeds, but instead of that it had an A in a circle in the latest activity widget.

Unfortunately I’ve had more transactions and can’t take a screenshot but if anyone else sees it can you grab one?

For me what’s better about the old interface is clarity. I want to have a place I can see a feed of transactions, and a place to see all my accounts. I don’t care about weird distinctions monzo makes between accounts like current vs pots (which can in fact be a bunch of different account types) and don’t want to see them in different places or split up in arbitrary ways. Nor do I want a bunch of adjustable widgets that just show snippets of info.

I don’t want to see a little bit of everything, I want to see one of those things done well and for all 5 tabs to contain useful info day to day.

So for this reason like the OP I’ve abandoned the new look for now.

Thanks for flagging, we’re likely going to start using the same models as the ‘see all’ screen soon which should keep everything in sync and reduce issues like this

Thanks for the explanation. Do you have more than one account (monzo or external) in the app at the moment by any chance? If so we’re currently working on something that will give you a bit more control and should hopefully let you focus on what’s important to you

Have the numbers always been bold or is this new? Something feels different about the font/text to me:
