One thing I know @Peter_G has been banging the drum for is some sort of notifications list/place.
I had a little 17 on the corner of the app icon this morning. Itâs the 1st, so not unexpected, lots of direct debits have gone out, but I have two accounts to check over. I then remembered about interest thatâs been paid on a pot, but not Plus interest yet.
Once the app is open, I have no idea who/what/where/why unless I go and count them or look for an anomaly and hope I havenât missed it.
Iâm using a Galaxy Fold, so I have a narrow screen. The âUpdating âŚâ text at the top line breaks such that I thought there was a bit of a rogue pixel / artifact to start with.
On a wider display, the ellipsis is next to the âUpdatingâ rather than underneath it. Probably an Android thing rather than a Monzo thing. Resolutions, resolutions, resolutions
The answer unFolds
A bit of a reflection on App Evolution. Iâm still very much here for it as a new homescreen (assuming that the card carousel and associated paradigm disappears too). But I wonder if itâs trying to do too much?
For example, Iâm super keen for a net worth figure and a list of all of my accounts/assets/debts etc. I think my assumption was that it should live on the home screen, but I wonder if a hand off to a separate ânet worthâ section that soberly lists all accounts/pots and tots up the figure, maybe a bit like the old accounts/pots list that you can expand/hide by category?
That way, with customisation, users can then choose what to show on the home screen.
I have a very stupid piece of feedback. The page feels a little bit too⌠imbalanced to the right? The âAccountâ text should be moved a bit further to the left imo.
I see what you mean. The âAâ of Accounts does line up with the âMâ of the monzo on the card(s) below it, but maybe it has to be aligned with the left-hand card edge instead? (like this example):
It might even look better where it is, but with a matching font-weight to the âmonzoâ (although thatâs a graphic image on the card image rather than a font)
IMHO the whole thing looks awful. Iâve had another look today hoping there would have been some improvements in the past month or so but nothing has changed. Turned it off again.
Can only hope, based on the app evolution team AMA the other day that things are being worked on in the background.
As we both have our complete day to day personal/joint and business banking with Monzo I really donât want to move. But at the moment they seem to be taking a neat, easy to use and logical interface and replacing it with a mess.
For me whatâs better about the old interface is clarity. I want to have a place I can see a feed of transactions, and a place to see all my accounts. I donât care about weird distinctions monzo makes between accounts like current vs pots (which can in fact be a bunch of different account types) and donât want to see them in different places or split up in arbitrary ways. Nor do I want a bunch of adjustable widgets that just show snippets of info.
I donât want to see a little bit of everything, I want to see one of those things done well and for all 5 tabs to contain useful info day to day.
So for this reason like the OP Iâve abandoned the new look for now.
Thanks for flagging, weâre likely going to start using the same models as the âsee allâ screen soon which should keep everything in sync and reduce issues like this
Thanks for the explanation. Do you have more than one account (monzo or external) in the app at the moment by any chance? If so weâre currently working on something that will give you a bit more control and should hopefully let you focus on whatâs important to you
