I signed up a while ago and I’m an investor too.
We’ve just released version 0.2.0 of the Android app to our public beta channel on the Google Play Store!
If you already have a Mondo card it gives you the following functionality:
- View your feed of transactions (you won’t be able to drill into specific transactions yet)
- Instructions on how to top up
- In-app chat support
- Push notifications when you spend
Just logged in and had a nose around. I’m getting a ‘403 error’ popup from the bottom every so often. Not sure if that something to do with still being logged into the iOS version or something else?
Thanks, that’s an issue that we’re addressing.
Had my own poke around earlier and I think I got myself stuck.
Booted up the app with me still logged in from the queue system and I saw a blank transaction view screen and nothing on the balance. I think the error ‘accountfield_id is required’ popped up at the bottom.
I then did something a wee bit silly by re-installing the app as I couldn’t see a way to log-out yet. Tapping the authentication e-mail doesn’t seem to let me log in.
I just downloaded the latest beta update (0.2.0).
Firstly thanks a lot for getting this release out of the door!
Besides the 403 error at the bottom of the screen it seems that the feedback page isn’t working for me. Specifically I get “Unable to load conversations”, “Tap to try again” (and no, tapping doesn’t fix it).
Is there any better way we can provide feedback (email, trello, ??), also do you get all the necessary debug data automatically or is there anything else I can do to when reporting such bugs?

@joulet now that it has this much functionality is there a way for me to get a card issued? As in can I request one somewhere else other than an app, or is it worth installing it on an iPad and requesting a card there?
Hi, when you make your bank transfer, for the reference number shall we only put the number or also the spaces, does that change anything?
@pilki42 you can logout in you phone settings by removing the Mondo account from there. Are you running Android N? If yes, you might have to restart the phone. We don’t support Android N yet as it’s still in preview.
@radeksimko we’re aware of that issue and I’m working on a fix. For now just post any feedback here.
@sdorunga you can only request a card on iOS devices for now. In few weeks we’ll probably run some events where people can get cards, too. We wanna add more features to the app first, though.
@edouard.lelesle it doesn’t matter whether you enter the reference number with or without spaces
@joluet Ahhh I forgot to mention that I’m running Android N.
Restarting the phone worked a treat though! Transactions are listing perfectly
Just got the 0.2.0 update and it’s a great start.
Feature request (If it’s not already there); Include support to unlock the app with a fingerprint reader.
Keep up the good work.
Many thanks.
Got the app, ended up deleting and re-installing as I kept getting ‘accountfield_id is required’ , since then it is working.
I was offered a card ages ago but could not have it because I had Android, I bought Mondo shares and was offered a card but could not have it because I had Android. I now have the Android app telling me I am at the top of the queue, but why the hell can’t I get a card and use the Beta App as you seem to be letting those who have a card and the iOS app use the new Android beta. Very very annoying, but I won’t sware in the community
Limiting the Android beta to people who either have another device running ios or who have migrated from ios to Android must be also limiting the amount of decent feedback. Very frustrating for users and I’m sure also for Mondo themselves!
I think the next feature must be allowing the request of a card through the Android app? Surely the more feedback the better?
Also makes people likely to give up waiting after so many months and just give up on Mondo particularly with competition on the horizon
In all honesty, you would have a terrible experience right now with just the Android app and no access to an iOS device. This is such an early preview and there is so much missing core functionality that I would stretch to call it currently unusable as the primary interface to your card.
In-app chat doesn’t currently seem to work, there’s no transaction details, no ability to freeze the card and the only top up method is the bank transfer details. It’s just login, basic feed and notifications. Very little to even give feedback on. Less here in the Android app today than when the public iOS alpha started!
This is the risk taken when pushing builds this early in development but I think it’s worth them taking and applaud the openness of the team to be willing to share it with those who may use both platforms. The alternative is pushing Android registrations now and giving a whole lot of Android only users a terrible and broken experience or waiting until the Android app nears feature parity with the iOS app in a few months.
Having said all of that, the basic feed that is there does look pretty good, if a little cramped on my first gen Moro X. The bank top up instructions also gets cut off and that entire view doesn’t scroll on my device.
But please, contain your anger and wait a little longer. You’re watching an entire bank get built from the ground up and it’s all happening at lightning speed compared to how colossally slow the existing banks move on the smallest decisions.
Good point @RichardR, if the feature set is that limited at the moment it would be totally unusable in the real world.
We have the unusual step of openness with a build that wouldn’t normally be published yet. I can understand peoples frustration seeing an app available and not understanding the unique situation…
Good to read you’re building the Android Dev Team… feel free to get in touch with me if you’re looking for a Scrum Master… I’ll be in London from July 21st
[edit] Thanks Jon Farquharson for your like.
whats this 503 error i got on the app?
We’re working on fixing the 503 errors—the app should still work though
