I’ve not had anything yet
Definitely not very Amex
Yes I did. Bit of a chore!
Good point. Breakfast baguette might be more in keeping
Considering the platinum card lets you waltz into selected places and throw down £150 as a member benefit, it’d need to be a very special steak bake
This must be the third or fourth time in a row that this LNER offer has re-appeared on my Platinum card immediately after expiring.
LNER have some bizarre fare rules, for example they don’t sell Groupsave tickets and they don’t sell certain types of discounted tickets on other TOCs, so it doesn’t always make sense to book with LNER at weekends, but just using this for my commute to work has saved me so much money over the course of the year!
When this eventually ends, I’ll go back to using Uber for train tickets for the Avios and Uber credit.
Plus LNER perks is great. I frequently get 10% back from my bookings, which is a good chunk towards my next booking. Alongside these kind of cashback offers. And if Monzo then I can also get credit from Airtime Rewards.
How easy is the process to modify train journeys through LNER? I’ve always stuck with Trainline even with the additional fee as I can amend my journeys through the app really easily.
Easy as pie in my experience.
Agreed, the LNER app is easily as good as Trainline.
Do Trainline still charge a fee? It’s the reason I never used it when it first came about and it’s stuck in my head enough to have never touched it since.
Glad they got rid of them then. At least up to 2021 they charged a booking fee of £1.50 plus a credit card fee if applicable.
Edit: seems they still do apart from same day bookings, which definitely isn’t the case booking with LNER direct:
They even charge £1 to collect tickets at a station! Why on Earth are people using them?!
Weren’t people complaining about fees from third parties like Trainline when requesting refunds which would have been free if booked direct?
They were one of the first and had good marketing!
It’s an easy to use app and worth the fee, no other train booking app had the functionality theirs had for a fair while. It may have changed now, but incumbents and all that.
Good to know, I’m downgrading the gold and will go for the BAPP now.
It 100% isn’t the case now, for sure. Not worth that fee in the slightest!
I used them when LNER and Uber didn’t have offers on.
The QR code tickets in the Wallet app actually expire correctly unlike the ones SWR would issue.
As there’s no booking fee on the day and my local line doesn’t offer advance tickets, that’s enough for me to use Trainline over SWR.
Has anyone got any experience of having the cashback everyday and apply for the blue rewards card? App chat not very helpful, just said I can’t switch, need to apply. The eligibility checker doesn’t show the blue rewards. I’d like to keep an amex but without the minimum spend, so would just like to switch. Seems it’s not that simple?
You can’t switch between rewards schemes, so would need to be a new application.
