Allow Parents to Earn Cashback on Children’s Spending

Family Cashback: Link Children’s Spending to the Parent’s Cashback Account

I’d love to see cashback offers extended to linked children’s accounts.

At the moment, my child has their own Monzo account and debit card, but the money they spend is funded by me. If I ask them to buy something while they’re out—Greggs is a good example—I miss out on cashback offers simply because the purchase is made on their card instead of mine.

The only way to receive the cashback is to give my child my own bank card, which defeats the purpose of them having their own account and isn’t something I’d want to encourage.

It would be great if eligible cashback offers could automatically apply to spending on linked children’s accounts, with the cashback being paid into the parent’s account. This would make the family account experience feel much more connected and would encourage families to use Monzo as their main bank for everyday spending.

I think this would be a valuable feature for parents while still allowing children to manage their own spending independently.

Cashback is 18+

Revels I had cashback when I was on my 16-17s account.

I believe this person is talking about a 6-15s account anyways.

Apart from the occasional subway / pret / Starbucks offer (which you’d only be making what…25-50p max) I don’t see why Monzo should implement this feature. Children aren’t spending at hotels, car rental, or massively at supermarkets which is where the majority of the cashback offers are for.

Money on the child’s account is theirs, gifted by you.
Rewards are 18+ too.
Either go to Greggs or give them your card and take fully responsibility for whatever they do with it.

do you guys work for Monzo? Just wondering why the hostility about getting money back from a bank?

Nobody who works for Monzo is going to reply.

You’ve posted your idea and people have replied. There’s no hostility.
