Add Chase UK and Virgin Money Credit Cards

I just wanted to add my voice that having Virgin Money Credit Cards linking is the one thing that holding me back from signing up to the Monzo premium account tiers. Really would love an update!

Any news on this yet, appreciate kids account is launching soon but would be good to have this in place with Virgin credit cards :crossed_fingers:

@_lewis its been 2 months since your last communication on this, any chance of an update? The radio silence is arguably more frustrating than an update with no meaningful progress…

We’re now rapidly approaching mid August @_lewis and as several people have said the lack of any response is extremely frustrating.

Hey  Sorry for my lack of updates. We’ve been working on other projects, which sadly means I haven’t been able to spend time on getting Virgin Money into Labs.

Once I’m able to dedicate some time to this I will. I understand that this probably isn’t the update you wanted, I’m sorry that we haven’t been able to get this into you’re hands yet. I haven’t forgotten about it and we will get it done. Happy to answer any questions.

Thanks
Lewis

Thanks @_lewis

Hi @_lewis - can you even say where this is in your backlog? It’s been the most asked-for feature for years now. Are you able to share which projects are in front of it?

Hey Will  Adding new connected accounts providers, isn’t work we tend to schedule. Instead these sorts of tasks are worked on when there’s a lull in project work. We’re currently working on a migration for conformation of payee. I’m hopeful that after this project, I’ll be able to spend some time on this but there’s no guarantee. I hope this provides some insight tho :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks @_lewis. If I’m honest I do find it a bit surprising / disappointing that connected accounts is a feature we have to pay for, yet developing and expanding the capability is seemingly a ā€œside of the deskā€ task.

A lull in project work in a growing bank? So basically this is very unlikely ever to happen?

Lets just hope they all get converted to Nationwide accounts following the takeover and then the problem goes away.

Even allowing for typos, i dont get this, sorry!

There are connected accounts in ā€œLabsā€ which have been thst way for, what… two years?

At least we know where we stand. It’s the only card I have that I can’t add, but I won’t hold my breath.

Why don’t people just wait?

It’s kinda rude hassling people for something out of their control.

You’re at no financial loss, and it takes less than 20 seconds to open your other banking app and check the balance.

Yeah, sadly it’s also the only one i use, and their app is terrible so i really wanted to rely on a Monzo connection :sob:

We’ll have to disagree on what constitutes ā€œhasslingā€.

Which I wouldn’t need to do if this was developed.

Multiple people, having read the topic, still tagging and moaning about it = hassling.

Not aimed at person alone.

Other banking apps also aren’t integrated into trends

To be fair to them, it’s been almost a year since both Chase and Virgin were being worked on and only one of them has made it (and until the account names come across instead of ā€˜Chase’ for every account I’d argue it’s not finished). Never mind the accounts permanently in labs.

I think Monzo have tried to do too much and they don’t have the manpower (person power?) to keep on top of it all. None of this is a developer issue, it’s a management/strategy issue.

The trouble is only a small minority of their customer base seem to notice and it’s not impacting growth so I don’t see it changing. They just need to release a big project every 6 months to keep the momentum up, it’s doesn’t really matter if they didn’t finish the last project.

100%.

But the level of tagging is unnecessary. Staff know it’s wanted.

It is wild from the outside, being pulled off one part finished product to jump into another.

Never worked in such departments, but can imagine it’s kinda normal especially during growth.

I’d imagine that if they’re not here releasing a new project, staff will be told not to engage on the forum soon (if they haven’t been told already)

@Carlo1460 He can speak for himself, but i get the impression @_lewis is perfectly happy to engage with questions on this topic, and he appears to be close enough to whats going on (or not) to be able to offer some insight. If this isn’t the case, I’m happy for him to refer us.

There did used to be staff on the forum who ran it as a community, but that’s not the case any more. If we can’t address any staff at all, then there isn’t much point in a forum. If you thinking asking for an update every couple of months on a highly requested feature is ā€œhasslingā€, then as @projectfortytwo says, we’ll just have to disagree.
