I got my CA card on 2nd or 3rd August London event. I initially switched everything over enthusiastically but realised I use my main current account as a sorting account and transfer my day to day spending to another account (at the time Monzo prepaid).
I realised I was not using Monzo CA day to day and that Monzo was not going to upgrade current account features anytime soon. Therefore I switched everything back to my legacy account and use the Monzo Current account now like I did the prepaid account. I probably will not switch fully until 2018 when new features like pots are implemented.
That surprises me - I went full in on the CA in late July and since then only used the PP for the first and only Monzo-to-Monzo payment I’ve ever made. I didn’t expect that behaviour to be atypical!
Though I did anticipate not fully embracing the CA for small value payments - sticking to the PP for that, but the ability to deal with the data afterwards in less manual ways has won me over!
To be honest, Tristan has probably looked at the actual data, I’m just going anecdotally from what I’ve personally seen talking to our customers on chat. It’s true that people are still using the prepaid for P2P payments, but more and more we see people using just the current account for actual card payments, and the trend is at the very least pushing in that direction.
So it’s really somewhere in between. Edited OP for clarity
I’m all-in on the CA, but use my pre-paid account very occasionally - as so many of my friends and colleagues are on the pre-paid card, they often send money when I buy coffee or cinema tickets or whatever. It’s always small amounts so I just leave it in there, then there’s something in there to send back should I ever need to (it’s rare, for some reason I’m always the one doing the spending…)
I’m all in on my CA. Not used my prepaid card since I’ve had my CA which I received on 22nd July
All my DDs come out of Monzo. I have a legacy account that currently has my savings in (just another CA) which will be moved to Monzo once Pots/Vaults/Envelopes/Jars come along
Similarly, I’m primarily working out of my Monzo CA now. Legacy bank has a couple of DDs I’ve not yet moved, but I’ve switched salary to Monzo and will just top up the legacy account to cover those payments until I get around to sorting them out. I’ve only been using the PP for P2P transactions (bill splitting mainly) and occasional purchases just to stop too much of a balance building up there.
Really looking forward to the two apps being integrated of course.
I have gone all in on the CA - I’ve moved over all my Direct Debits, Salary and use it for all of my day to day spending. Only time I use my legacy account (with Lloyds) is paying in cash/cheques, and the PrePaid card is only used when people use monzo.me payments.
