Zopa Bank Chat

Just discovered Zopa on money saving expert. Seems like a no brainier for holding cash savings right now.

I use them.

20 minutes transfer in/out.

Pots automatically “open” after notice period. Easy to renew.

My Zopa account is now showing a rate of 3.07%.

Teansferring out of the Monzo pot back to Zopa as we speak

For 0.07% extra?

Now that’s really looking after the pennies

Unless of course you want the ability to split your savings into further pots, in which case :+1:

Why? Isn’t Tandem 3.05%, and that includes a bonus that has to be separately claimed. Without that it is only 2.85%.

I always thought 3.07% was higher than 3.05%

Ooh, you just hit submit before me

This is the bit I am pleased about as my Zopa ladder system means a net increase on my easy-ish access account of 0.21%

Reports on MSE forum that Zopa have removed the loophole on notice pots and that you can no longer add money to pots on which you have given notice .

Ladder system now defunct :worried:

Just checked for myself and can confirm that, following today’s app update, you can no longer move money to a notice pot where notice given.

You used to be able to transfer money from an easy access pot to a pot upon which notice had been given, unlike other notice account providers.

So you just create multiple 95 day pots weekly or fortnightly and transfer all but a penny across as each matures, boosting and giving immediate notice again on the penny account.

Matured funds then transferred to next maturing pot, effectively earning top rate consistently for short notice accounts.

All gone now.

Their easy access pot is still better than Chase and Monzo now, albeit marginally. An extra 7p interest a year per £100 saved

Tandem IS now better, as the top up bonus has now been increased from 0.20% to 0.35%, giving a total 3.20%.

Yeah, I nearly moved my savings out of monzo into zopa when I saw the extra 0.21%, but, tbh, having worked out the difference amounts to the price of a Costa, if left in for a year, I really cba :man_shrugging::rofl:

I’m just having the same dialogue with myself around whether or not to keep my 31 day notice Zopa account (3.31%) or continue to move it into Monzo as planned. It’s certainly getting more competitive out there. Would be nice if Monzo could nudge theirs up a bit as well.

I left my 31 day one in Zopa when it converted yesterday into their EA.

3.07% and no faff.

Anybody getting a ‘details mismatch’ when setting up a transfer to zopa from monzo? The monzo error message doesn’t give the mismatched name which is unusual, I’ve checked the details and they look fine.

If I do an instant transfer from within the zopa app the payee name used is ‘zopa’ which seams strange given I have my own account number.

And another rate increase
